If a Pontiac Sunfire is making a ticking sound is it due to not changing the oil?
Sometimes a ticking sound is a valve lifter. The faster you go the faster the ticking will be.
Make sure first it is not something stuck in a tire or something on the fan belt.
The engine has not been properly refilled with anti-freeze. This air bubble blocks collant flow to the cabin heater.
All the blinkers on a 1998 Pontiac sunfire do not work?
There are a few places to look to find out what's happening here.
FUSE(S) Easy to check and/or replace. If this is the problem, you have
to wonder why the fuse failed. Old age is NOT usually a reason.
BULBS: It's doubtful that all of them are burned out, but I guess it could
happen. Replacing all of them is cheap and easy, and if one or more of them
begin to work after replacement, you will have partially solved the problem.
FLASHERS: There are two, one for the turn signals and another for
the 4 way emergency lights. Again, it's doubtful that both would fail,
but it could be that the one for the 4 ways could have been dead for
some time without being noticed. We don't generally use them much.
TURN SIGNAL SWITCH: It's possible that this switch has failed. If so,
you need to replace the entire stalk. It's about a $60 part and not a
terrible job.
Where do you find the high side service port on a 2000 Pontiac sun fire?
It's near the top of the radiator on the passenger side. It is upside down, tucked under the radiator support, and has a red cap on it.

How do you change water pump for Vectra 2.2?
1. Hold the Water Pump sprocket in position using the aperture
in the front cover.
2. Remove:
a. Upper Timing Cover
b. Manifold Heat Shield
c. Oxygen Sensor Wiring Harness Plug
d. Auxiliary Belt
3. Release water pump drain plug and drain.
4. Disconnect wiring harness plug from temperature sensor
and remove water hose from thermostat housing and heater
hose from the radiator.
5. Remove from water pump.
6. Remove the water pump service hatch.
7. Attach the Water pump holding tool (Laser Tools do one, as do Snap-on)with two of the service cover bolts in the outer slotted holes.
8. Secure the tool to the water pump sprocket using the 3
internal bolts.
9. Tighten to ensure tool is fitted securely.
10. Remove the bolts holding the Water Pump to the sprocket.
The engine timing is maintained as the timing chain is
securely fixed to the pump sprocket.
11. Remove the Water Pump.
12. Replace the Water Pump, refit the bolts retaining the pump
to the sprocket and remove the holding tool.
13. Re-assemble components in reverse order.
What are the signs of a water pump going bad on 1996 Pontiac Sunfire?
Well, my car is a 97 Pontiac Sunfire, but I've heard it's about the same. Right now, I have to replace the water pump in MY car. My first indication was it continually was losing coolant and the light indicating low coolant levels kept popping on, no matter how much I added. I took it in and had it tested, and they told me it was the water pump.
Usually a water pump on any car will start screaming just before the bearings give out totally. Used to be that you could regularly lubricate a water pump through a little lubricant hole, but I doubt you can do that on modern ones.
------
Another way of telling is if the weep hole on the water pump is leaking fluid.
look at peep ho;e pn water [ump.if theres a discharge, replace it, seal weht bad

How do you remove radiator and or flush a 1991 Olds Calais?
Removing the radiator is a pain. Worse it trying to replace it. I bought three of them, sent two back, and saw that the third was almost right. The one that I kept I brought to a radiator shop and the core was a close enough match that they were able to use it to fix the old radiator and I put it back in the car.
If you want to flush it, just use a flush machine.
If you want to drain and fill, it's like any other car.
With any 60 degree GM V6 look for as many as two bleeder valves, and consider using a vacuum fill tool to prevent damaged cylinder heads.
If you want to drain and fill a 2.5L I4 engine, filling is special:
Do not remove the radiator cap. This it important.
1)Remove the thermostat housing cap. Remove the thermostat, then add coolant though the opening.
2)Put the cap on, then start the engine and let it idle for about 15 seconds and shut it off.
3)Remove the thermostat housing cap, top off the antifreeze, then install a new thermostat. Put the cap on.
4) Check and correct fluid level in the overflow bottle.
There are no grease fittings on this vehicle. Most new vehicles especially those from Japan, now have sealed components that are prelubed upon the components assembly. This is done for the simple reason that the automotive market place is demanding a product that requires less servicing, resulting in a less expensive opperating cost to the consumer. These sealed components offer a good service life as long as the seals, ie. usually rubber boots, remain in good condition and are not damaged. Cheers!
Why do you have a grininding noise on your power steering on your Pontiac sunfire?
It sounds like your power steering fluid may be low. (you might have a leak) I'd check it and top it off if necessary. Keep an eye on it to see if it's leaking. If so, add some fluid with stop leak. I highly recommend Gold Eagle brand. It fixed a leak for me where nothing else would.

Why would a service light come on in a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire?
Well, it could be many things, but usually it means that something is amiss in your emissions control system.
Often, a loose fuel cap can cause the check engine light to come on. Try tightening it, but wait a day or two to see if it helps or not.
If not, you can go to your local auto parts store and have them read the codes that the computer is throwing. Most of them will do this for free.

Either the clutch fluid level could have gotten low allowing air into the lines or you may need to replace your clutch master cylinder. Try adding DOT3 brake fluid and then pumping the clutch pedal. If you start to notice some resistance then you need to bleed the clutch hydraulic lines.
Is there a diagram for vacuum hoses on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire?
A diagram for the vacuum hoses on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire is located in the service manual. It outlines where each hose goes and its function.
How do you check transmission fluid on a 1998 sunfire?
Your car is probably too new to still have a dipstick. If it does, it will be back near the firewall, close to the brake master cylinder.
If it doesn't, the fluid level is checked via the fill plug on the side of the transaxle. Take it out and feel for fluid (if none runs out right away) If your finger comes out with fluid on it, you're go to go. If not, it needs fluid.
Where to locate the fuel pump on a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire to replace it.?
I highly suggest that you pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual if you intend on doing the job yourself!
You really need to read all of the procedure and the warnings.
GAS IS EXPLOSIVE! BLOWING UP IS NO FUN!
How do you change ac hose on 2000 Sunfire?

How do you replace the center console light bulb on the gear selector on a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire?
This may sound kind of silly, but are you sure there is indeed a light in there? My Sunfire is older than yours, so this might not be relative, but, as dumb as I am, when I first bought the car, I kept looking at that darned console, hoping to see some indication of what gear I was in. I took me a while to realize that the shifter postions are just painted on the console, and that the only "real" gear indication was that lovely lighted display on the dash! Cheers, FriPilot Actually, there is a light, 194 bulb. Hard to get to, if it is important, you might want to take it to the dealer for bulb replacement. Jimbo_55
My Pontiac Sunfire jumped time how do you fix it?
To fix the Pontiac Sunfire if it jumped time, the timing belt has to be replaced. Then the car has to have the timing set again after the belt is replaced.
