Check the main fuse box. In some of the L series the main fuse box is under the hood, next to the battery.
Remove the top of the fuse box and look for the button that says "oil".
Turn the key to the "on" position, but don't start the engine.
Push and hold the "oil" button until you hear the dashboard chime.
Once you hear the chime, you know that the oil light is reset.
If your L series Saturn is different, check the owners manual.

Look at the valve cover rear near the drivers side of the engine. there is a hose attached to a nipple there, the nipple is the PCV valve, it might come out with the hose, if not get a pair of plier and pull it out. The cost about $3 at the parts store.

Your car will not last very long if you don't change the oil at a reasonable frequency. Adding oil does not remove contamination of the existing oil. The bad stuff needs to come out. Time is less important than mileage. Once per year and maybe 6,000 miles are about as far as you should stretch it without oil analysis. It's more important to maintain the level though. If you run a car low on oil it is very bad.
If your car is a qt low on oil it only takes 3 more to change it. Cheap way to make your car last longer.

I removed the 5 amp fuse for the chime. It's on the front passenger's left leg side behind the plastic panel. I have the problem with it chiming after I removed the key. Door open only though.

AnswerIn models 90-95 of an sl2 they have an aluminum valve covers that often leak so what i did was change the valve cover over to the composite plastic of a 96 it stopped right up i got it at a salvage yard for $52 it came with the seals and grommets they fit fine and sealed nicely. Several things can cause a Multiple Cylinder Misfire. First and most obvious are your spark plugs and wires. If they havent been changed within the last year that you can remember its time to change them. Faulty Crankshaft sensor would also cause this to happen but is unlikely.

jack up the passenger side the car on the front wheel side of the car put a jack stand on that side for safety and take the jack out. now take off the front tire,then take off the plastic splash plate then take 9/16" box wrench on end of the tension pulley and release the tension on drive belt and take it off the alternator.there two bolts one on the bottom and the top the top bolt is the hardist to get out and back in I used a short piece of plastic tubing big enough to fit snug on the head of the bolt you can try it when you get the bolt good and loose coming out,oryour fingers ,but going back with the bolt the tubing works great. good luck i have changed three on my 1994 saturn.and do not FORGET TO DETACH THE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY .

It's just like changing the oil except you put the new fluid into the trany dip stick holder with a funnel. There is a plug on the trany you just unscrew it and let it drain a pan, take the filter off its located in the front of the motor compartment towards the driver side (looks just like an oil filter and replace with a new one, put the plug back and fill.
It is important to know that Saturn transmissions SHOULD have a transmission fluid change conducted every 8,000 miles. The reason: the fluid in the torque converter is NOT drained by draining the pan, and the standard filter will NOT pick up the fine particles (>1 micron) that will cause the valve body spool clearance to grow enormously and wear out. The Saturn manual recommends 30,000 mile intervals, but that is not enough - Why?
The standard filter is only intended to pickup larger particles. Even the Saturn dealer or AAMCO do not have the tools to do a 100% purge/flush utilizing the transmission's own fluid pump. If 100% of the fluid (7 quarts, not 4) is not removed, the fine particles persist in the remaining fluid and will eventually cause the transmission pressure regulator valve spool to erode the labrynth-casing - and the necessary hydraulic pressure drops too much. You'll notice the problem gets worse as the fluid heats up and the viscocity drops. What happens is that the reverse gear is activated before the "clutch" can disengage (because the fluid pressure is too low). This manifests as "reverse slam" (or eventually forward gears) not shifting reliably.
The vane pump in the transmission is a particle generator, so it is important to keep up with the fluid changes. IF you are one of the people that neglect fluid changes and are starting to notice transmission shifting problems, it may be too late to get by with just a fluid change, but it is worth a try. If it helps, make sure to keep up with the fluid changes at 8,000 miles (or even more frequent). If the problem persists, there is a permanent solution - have a "Sonex sleeve" installed on the transmission valve body. The parts are ~$200-400, and it takes a day to replace - it's a better design than the original Saturn valve body and the problem will never return.
