Assuming your serpentine belt is in good condition... the bearing of pulley could be making noise (or bearing could fail allowing you to jiggle pulley with your hand), and/or tensioner spring is worn out.

On 4th generation Nissan Sentras (1995-1999), as well as almost all front-wheel drive cars ever made, the belts are on the right side of the engine, almost against the right side of the engine cavity.

If you have a serpentine belt, there is no real way to do bypass it. The AC must be part of the route because it keeps the tension on the alternator. There is a bracket with a pulley that jeeps w/o AC had and if your AC doesn't work, try putting a bracket and pulley in.

There are 7 pullies the belt must cross. Starting at the Altenartor, and working CLOCKWISE: Under the Alntenator OVER the top left UNDER the removable pulley OVER the FAR Right upper pulley, then circle around it OVER the middle right pulley, then circle around it to the RIGHT OVER on the RIGHT of the lowest (and largest) pulley on the right OVER the Center Left Pulley, back down and UNDER the Altenator sorry for the lack of techinicla names for the pullies, but the idea should be easy enough if you are looking at the front end of your engine

Release the tensioner in the centre of the belt, and see what happens!

There should be a sticker under the hood either in front of the radiator or the underneath side of the hood itself. If you still cannot find it look in your owners manual.

I just bought one of these from Trak Auto in my area and it was a GATES rubber part and was 14.96. Ive seen others ranging from that price, to about 24.99 so I'd say except 15 to 20 dollars at most auto parts stores.

Run a compression test. If only one cylinder has low compression, it's probably a damaged valve or pushrod. If the compression is low in all cylinders the cam is probably not timed correctly.

I just bought a belt for my 4.0L and there was a diagram on the outer wrapper of the belt (listed common belt diagrams). You might call the auto parts store and ask them to look to see if the diagram comes with the belt. If it matters my belt was from Advance Auto Parts and was the better one (1 YR warranty instead of 90 days). I forgot the brand.

There should be a diagram on the underside of the hood.

you will find a diagram on the packet when you buy a new belt. there is also a diagram in the owners handbook

if a serpentine belt is loose, it needs replacing. there is an automatic tension pulley on all serpentine belts. so just buy a new belt and install

you have to remove the belt tensioner to remove the belt off of the engine.

well my friend, your windshield wipers work off of an electric motor powered by your battery which is charged by the alternator, hope this makes sense to you, if wipers arent working it may be a fuse or the electric motor. if your alternator belt is not on or your alternator isn't working your battery will bo dead pretty quick and your car wont start at all. hope i helped sharris@maplenet.net if you have any car questions

The pulleys sometimes separate and need replacing. There should be a schematic on the fan shroud.

There is also a possibility that an idler bearing has failed but that noise is a bit different from a rubber on metal squealling noise. To be certain of the problem befor you start throwing parts at it is to remove the belt and check each pulley and idler pulley (on the tensioner) for excessive play and/or rough or lumpy feel when you rotate them by hand.
