How do you replace a clutch on 02 Kia Optima?
If it's anything like the 05, the trick is to remove the lever for the release fork before removing the transmission. This is because the clutch plate and release bearing becomes attached to each other. This is a pull type clutch pressure plate. Meaning that the release bearing fits into a clip that is part of the pressure plate assembly. Once you press the clutch pedal, the release bearing pulls the clutch pressure plate towards the transmission, allowing the clutch disc to be released from the engine flywheel. Once you remove the atuator arm, the pivot for the release shaft is free to rotate to release the release bearing from the fork. You should see the release bearing still attached to the pressure plate once the transmission is removed. Oh, one more thing, you will have to remove the subframe in order to gain access to the transmission for removal. My car has a 4 cylinder by the way. Oh there is one more thing. You have to reinstall the release lever to the release fork arm before installing transmission. If you fail to do this, the release arm may rotate without you being aware, therefore the release bearing will become dislodged from the release fork. That is the most critical step for reinstallation.
Tension of mystery is basically tension of mystery. lol. In movies, television, games etc; you watch, you will see tension of mystery. When there is an investigation episode, for example, CSI Miami, the main actor will have an expression of mystery and maybe a confused or curious expression on his face to find the murderer. It keeps you watching to see if he finds, I guess. lol.

That tensioner pulley will not go loose do it it being Spring loaded. DO NOT attempt to disassemble it, the spring is under a huge amount of pressure. The best way is to go to your local autoparts store and rent or buy a "Serpentine Belt Removal Tool" It will attach to the tensioner and give you the best leverage on it.

***SUM'S Answer***- Its very simple and quite stupid, all I ever noticed is that the sport has fog lights and a decal that says "sport". In 1988, the Sport package was added as a mid-year release. Available in both 2wd and 4x4, the Sport included: * AM Stereo / FM Stereo radio with cassette player * Carpeted logo floor mats * Center armrest bench seat * Charcoal/Silver Deluxe Cloth interior with fold-down arm rest * Color-keyed leather-wrapped sport steering wheel * Deluxe wipers * Dual remote control outside mirrors * Floor Carpet * Gauge Package * Mopar Air Dam with Bosch Fog Lamps * Mopar Light Bar with Bosch Off-Road lamps (4x4 only) * Unique bodyside tape stripes * Euro-style black out grille and bumpers * Sliding rear window * 3.9 L V6 engine * 15" aluminum wheels (5 bolt) The Sport was available only in Black, Bright White and Graphic Red. 1998 Ford Expedition serpentine belt?
Serpentine Belt
Under the hood should be a diagram of the belt, this is your best reference without the service manual. All you have to determine is which direction to rotate the belt tensioner, and then put the belt back on as shown in the diagram.
If it is not you can run down to your nearest auto parts store and they can print it out for you or just buy the Hayes or chilton manual on your car. It only cost a few bucks and it well helps you out later down the line if something else brakes.
Relieve Serpentine Belt Tension.
Before removing the belt, note its routing around all applicable pulleys for ease of installation.
1. Using a box end wrench on the tensioner pulley center bolt, rotate the tensioner assembly clockwise.
2. While holding the tensioner in this position, remove the alternator drive belt from one or two of the applicable pulleys.
Use a box end wrench to rotate the tensioner pulley assembly clockwise to relieve serpentine belt tension
1. Slowly release the tensioner, and remove the box end wrench from the center bolt.
2. Remove the alternator drive belt from the remaining applicable pulleys.
To install:
When installing the drive belt on the pulleys, ensure that it is properly seated in all of the pulley grooves.
1. Using the box end wrench, rotate the tensioner clockwise again, then position the drive belt on all of the pulleys.
2. Slowly release the tensioner until it eliminates all drive belt slack.
3. Inspect the tensioner indicator to be sure that the belt is properly tensioned. If the belt tension is incorrect, the belt should be replaced with a new one, or, if installing a new belt, the belt may not be the correct belt for your vehicle.
4. Then start the engine. Ensure that the drive belt works properly.

Can you drive your car if the serpentine belt is loose?
If the vehicle will start, it can be moved. A loose serpentine belt, depending on HOW loose it is will affect the alternator output voltage, which provides electricity for the vehicle and recharges the battery. If the alternator is not providing enough power, the engine can run off the battery until it is used up, at which point the entire vehicle loses power and shuts down.
A loose belt also affects operation of the water pump, which pushes hot coolant out of the engine block into the radiator where it can be cooled. Then engine might overheat.
The Acheiva has a spring loaded idler pulley to keep tension on the belt. A loose belt may be an indication that the idler needs to be replaced, along with the belt. I have never heard of a belt stretching enough to become loose, but if it has, it will soon break because the fibers in the belt are likely separated which weakens the belt.

What is the difference between a serpentine belt and an accessory belt?
An accessory belt is any belt that drives additional power systems from the front crank of an engine. Typically, these "accessories" are the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. In many rear wheel drive vehicles, a belt is also used to drive the radiator fan. Typically called "V-belts," they are so named because of their wedge shaped cross section that grips the groove in the drive pulleys.
A serpentine belt is a particular kind of accessory belt design that drives all of the accessories with a single belt. It does this by winding a serpentine course around all the pulleys. Serpentine belts are wider and flatter than V-belts, and grip the pulleys with multiple shallow grooves.
Serpentine belts are considered the best contemporary solution to accessory drive requirements, as they require less engine compartments space, reduce design complexity, and are easier to change. On the down side, if they fail, you have a major problem, as all your auxiliary systems will fail at once. For this reason, they are manufactured to much higher standards, and are correspondingly more expensive.
