How much are Shih poos?

They cost anywhere from $300-$900 but you can also find them in shelters and you get some lovely animals that need a home.

I got a Lhasa Apso at a pet rescue, he was my soul mutt. Lhasas were bred with Pekinese which made shih-tzus and was given as a gift to the emperor of China both breeds are called "Lion Dogs' and shi-tzus sometimes called chrysanthemum because the hair around their nose and eyes resembles the flower.

My Lhasa passed 9 months ago and we are now the owner of a 2yr shih-tzu from the pound, he is like a mini Lhasa, he is adorable, non-shedding, trained and 'fixed' what more could anyone ask??

How long does a shih tzu hair grow in a full coat?

At 12 months it should be hitting the floor but that does not mean its fully grown into a full coat the shih tzu will have its full think double coat at about 2-3 year depending on hair type. now the hair above the nose is a different story it will be able to going a rubber band at about 6-7 months but wont be fully grown out till around 1-2 years. i am currently growing out y shih tzu puppy now and have a ale eho is full grown he has a full think double coat which is hard to remove mats because there's only minimal grooming aloud on a show shih tzu as far as cutting the hair so all mats have to be brushed, conditioned out.

What are opinions on Shih Tzus?

  • Shih Tzus can be good dogs with proper medical care and discipline. They are prone to dental diseases (such as retained baby teeth) as well as eye problems and some forms of cancer. Because first time owners often display a tendency to treat this dog like a baby which can lead to dominance issues, they are instead recommended for veteran dog owners. They have a comparatively long lifespan of up to 14 years, but only with regular vet care. They are smart dogs that can become manipulative if they don't have a strong owner. Shih Tzus require A LOT of grooming, so be prepared to pay top dollar for a groomer or learn yourself.
  • Shih Tzus are super sweet! They are very friendly, love attention and love to be played with. They are known for their energy, but also can be very calm. They are also very cute.
  • They can get along with both adults and children. They may tend to have sensitive skin but nothing that can't be controlled easily.
  • Shih Tzus do not shed, which is great for people who may have allergies. They are extremely sweet and easy to train. Shih Tzus do tend to have allergies, but these are easily controlled. They also require regular grooming. I highly recommend a Shih Tzu to anyone looking for a loving companion.
  • I have one and they are the nicest dogs, never shed, smart, usually pretty calm compared to other toy breed dogs. One of the best breeds out there.
  • I have three and I love them very much! They are really sweet and lovable; especially good for little kids but you do have to raise them right and treat them nicely so they grow up to be nice!
  • I love Shih Tzus! They are so cute and really friendly and when it comes to protection you are in great luck. They are sometimes energetic they do love attention so try not to spoil them doesn't matter how cute they are. They take an extremely long time to clean up they have extra long hair and yet a unique looking face. For exercise they may not need as much as a larger dog, but it depends on how the temperament is and they do have a good temperament and are very friendly very independent and sometimes are calm. They are great with kids and other family.
  • A reason it may not be convenient to have a Shih Tzu, is because of the barking. If you have a baby at home, it may disrupt their sleeping.
  • I just bought my first Shih Tzu puppy yesterday and i love her already, she is only 7 and a half weeks old but she is so placid, Shih Tzus are also good for people with allergies and asthma as they don't shed fur much.
  • Very nice little dog breed with a uniqueness to them unlike any I've encountered. It takes them a long time to find a spot to do their business. They have a sharp dislike of thunder and noise. They do shed as seasons change but have no odor to their coat, as in dog smell. They are very family orientated and love a walk in the bush. They are alert and a keen sense dog.

* I have a Shih Tzu and i love her she is four years old and she is still as playful as when i got her.

Is there a method for pulling out teeth if you can't afford dental care?

Not safe to do it yourself. You put yourself in risk of infection and possible servere damage to your health. Check with your city or dental schools or even a low affordable plan. Dental schools, once qualified takes a few months because of the qualification process, but will be very affordable. Or a plan No. It is VERY dangerous to pull your own teeth. There are free clinics in some areas, check them out. You can also sometimes get inexpensive care from the dental schools. You will get good care from them. They are students, but they are supervised by teachers. And they are in their last year of school, they will be practicing dentistry on their own in a year or less. It's a great way to go if you don't have insurance. Do not pull your own teeth. It can be very dangerous.

Is salt water good for healing wounds?

Yes. If you cut yourself at a beach go straight to the water it stops bacteria from going to your wound aswell it stings a little but it perfect for healing cuts faster it is the best thing you can do.

Salt does NOT have antibacterial qualities. The reason the salty water at the beach is good for cuts and grazes is that the salt AFTER YOU GET OUT OF THE WATER helps dry the wound.

The reason dentists sometimes suggest we rinse our mouths with salty water (after extractions or when we have ulcers etc.) is that the salt-water is "isotonic" and less irritating to the mucous membranes in the mouth. It is NOT as an antibacterial agent. (This was proven in a study released in the BDJ (British Dental Journal) around 2004).

Sodium Chloride, or salt is a antibacterial agent. Salty water will cause liquids to move out of cells [be that human cells or bacterial] when it comes into contact with them. This process is called osmosis. This movement of water can dehydrate cells, and cause them to die. This process on bacteria kills them and gives salt it's antibacterial properties and is the same reason why salt was used to preserve meat.

The salt applied meat in order to preserve it was applied in vast amounts (DRY salt on the not-very-moist surface of the meat) and this caused the osmosis-led preservation you mentioned. But salt in SOLUTION does not have the same efficaciousness since it's in SOLUTION - and is vastly overwhelmed by the water. Again, this was all put to rest in an extensive study published in the British Dental Journal and other peer-review publications. 'Salt water gargles' are isotonic only.

Are shih tzu a girls dog?

No they are not. Many men say Shih Tzu's are a girl/womans dog. Well they are wrong. They are loving cuddable dogs. They are very good with children from any ages. They are quick to train and are a great dog! All men say they wouldnt be caught dead with a Shih Tzu because they think they will look gay if they take he/she for a walk. Wrong again. They are a male and females dog. The long haired Shih Tzu''s are mainly caught with women owners. But the short haired Shih Tzu's are mainly a family dog. I myself are a Shih Tzu and me and my husband always take it on a walk. My husband his self takes it on a walk and has never said anything about anyone saying he looks gay with a shorthaired Shih Tzu. These dogs are so worth there money! AND THEY ARE NOT GIRL/WOMENS DOGS! SO GIVE OVER MEN!
