New Star Trek series idea?

I reckon it would be a cool idea for a new series if starfleet commissioned a top secret team whose remit was to travel in time between different eras in order to gain advantages for the federation and or sort things out that's a mess in the timeline or prevent bad disasters from happening, wether natural or caused by wars between races etc. It would continue the long theme of time travel star trek has had in the series and indeed in the recent film with the creation of the alternate timeline. A series like this could have so much scope. There ship wouldn't have to be a big ship but more comparable to a large shuttlecraft, the team being undercover and behind the scenes sort of thing.

Bascially this would allow for a star trek series, based, not only on the key theme of exploration (in this case they are exploring the timelines as opposed to anything new), but on action and covert espionage, SAS and delta force, star fleet style. This would also mean every episode could be set in a different era, from TOS all the way to deep space nine, to perhaps a point in time beyond what has been covered by the current tv series. If ure a star trek fan to a great or less degree and like this idea, discuss!

How does a holodeck work?

We don't really have the technology to build a holodeck. At least not one that "really works" like the ones on Star Trek. The holodeck on Star Trek constructs objects from programmed instructions, or "to order" from the directions of the person(s) using it. And it also makes these objects solid. That is a step far outside holography, which is the 3-D visual or optical representation of a solid object, but it is not itself a solid object. It only appears to be solid. To create a 3-D object and then give it the properties of a "real" solid object requires actually building the object out of matter (which is not "holo" technology), or using the most complex arrangement of discrete force fields to create a "solid feel" to something like, say, another person (a holodeck character) who walks up to you and slaps you on the back. This sets aside the idea of tapping into someone's thoughts and making them "see" and "feel" and "experience" things as if they are real when they are not. (That's a separate technology, and we've seen that on Star Trek, too.) The functions of a holodeck apply technology that is far, far beyond what we currently have. But if we're going there, we're on the right path. It takes big advances in computer power and massive increases in creativity in science (particularly physics) to get to where we can build a holodeck. We're rolling along in that direction, and about all that we can complain about is the speed at which we're moving.

It does not necessarily need to be the first book just the one that is best to start at for someone who has never read or watched Star Trek which book should I read first?

The books have to be read in order. If you start at new moon you will be lost and probably get bored quickly! Its like watching the 3rd movie in a set and then the 1st and then the 2nd. It just doesnt work. This is the order... 1. Twilight 2. New Moon 3. Eclipse 4. Breaking Dawn You have very good taste in books by the way; they are amazing!! If you enjoy them Id also recommend 'the host' by Stephenie Meyer. (Its even better!) :)

Which university made the klingon language?

Question: Who invented the Klingon language?

Answer: Scotty

- Kesuvaglar

Not really correct. James Doohan, who played Scotty, indeed devised the first few words of Klingon, but it was linguist Marc Okrand who really invented the language. You can buy his book, "The Klingon Dictionary" and learn the language.

And in any case, it wasn't any university.

How did The Enterprise get its name?

In the series Star Trek Enterprise (Starring Scott Bakula. Ran from 1999 to 2002, four seasons) in Captain Archer's quarters there is a row of paintings or drawings ships. In one of the episodes he explains that they all carried the name Enterprise. The first is an old, old 1700s sailing ship, then comes the USS Enterprise Carrier, then some sort of small space craft, somewhere in there I think there's a jet or something (could be mistaken), and then the NX-01 Enterprise (the first Warp 5 ship). Hope this answers your question.
