Do starfish have a brain?

Starfish do not have true brains. They have a cluster of nerves called ganglia that form a ring in the centre of the starfish which is called the circumoral nerve ring. A radial nerve extends at right angles from the circumoral nerve ring into each arm. With the exception of eye spots in the tip of each arm there are no specialised sense organs (such as eyes or ears). These eyespots sense light and send back messages to the main nerve centre.

The starfish is a primitive organism and as such does not make conscious decisions to eat or sleep. Changes in light intensity will cause different firing rates of nerves, which may equate to sleep. Minute traces of odours from clams and mussels or from dead fish will also excite the nervous system and will initiate the feeding cycle. A lot of these "sleep/wake" cycles or feeding cycles will be dictated by changes in light intensity or tidal rise and fall.

If you find a starfish in the wild how do you hold it?

There is really no proper way to hold it since they can't hurt you. UNLESS they have very long spines- they could stick you and most likely be poisonous. But if they have very tiny spines you can just pick them up. (Although you should probably pick it up by its' ray (arm). Happy Starfish Hunting!

Are there any kinds of exercises you can do to make yourself taller?

Try doing pilates. It will give you better posture, which will make you appear taller.

1) At 17, one still has 5 to 7 years of growth left. 2) 5'7" is just slightly below average height for men, and above average for women-- not "short" or anything to worry about. 3) Height is mainly determined by genetics. If one's parents are of shorter or taller stature, then the offspring tends to fall inside that same scale. (me: dad: 5'10", mom 5'5"-- I'm 5'8".) 4) As previous replies indicated, posture is a big deal in how tall you appear top other people. 5) If one goes around seeing themselves as "short" or "fat" or "ugly," people around them will see them as such as well. I have no idea why this happens, but it does.

I really don't think that any exercises will make your bones longer, buit make sure you eat right and get all the nutrients. Be Patient also. I just grew an inch in a matter of months and I thought I was done growing. Last but not least, there's nothing wrong with being short. People come in all shapes and sizes.

No excercise actually makes you taller. However you can make yourself appear taller. Pilates is designed to give you longer leaner muscles, so I highly recommend it. A lot of celebs use it to get that long lean look. !

How does a starfish heal?

If a starfish loses an arm, it has the power to regenerate, meaning it can grow its appendages back. In fact, if a live starfish lost all its legs(so that it would just be 5 seprate legs - or, at least, most of the time 5 legs) as long as each leg has part of the central body part, every leg can regenerate into a new starfish.
