That would be setting up situations to where you would die, but not by your own means. That could include enlisting in the armed forces, asking to be assigned to front line combat, and expecting to get killed. It could also include "suicide by cop," where a person provokes the police into killing them. Some may commit a capital crime with the desire to be executed for it. On one true life type crime show, a pedophile killed a random family so he could be put on death row and die in realitive peace rather than be housed with inmates who hated pedophiles and would do bad things to them.

Latest research shows that 25 - 33% of those who die by suicide are thought to leave written communication.

There has not been a significant report on suicidal deaths of air traffic controllers. Though they are in a very high responsibility, high stress job, they are professionals and it appears their suicide rates are actually very low.

It can be related to a number of factors. There is simply a lack of a macho drive here. Women don't feel this need to prove themselves as much by using a violent suicide method to prove a sense of worth.

Women by their very natures are less aggressive to an extent, unless pushed into certain situations, and then there may be overkill. That is why police departments may train female officers harder than men. That way, any inner feelings of vulnerability won't cause her to immediately use her firearm when a male officer would use less than lethal means to control a situation. They don't want female officers over-compensating for a lack of upper body strength.

Also, social pressures and how women are encouraged to be more courteous play a role here. A guy doesn't think that someone will have to clean up after his suicide, or just doesn't care. There is no thought about whether it will be "messy" or not. A woman getting ready to commit suicide may be more likely to tidy up the place, choose a method of suicide that is easier to clean up after, and dress up nice before doing it, and try to stage it as a nap.

However, the roles in this are sometimes reversed as teens, where girls may be more impulsive in how they choose suicide, while the teen boy might be more thoughtful and more prepared. This just goes to show that tendencies aren't always reliable to go by.

Of course, there are women who want to defy stereotypes, nature, and perceptions when they take this exit. So they may try a more aggressive method to try to make a political statement about suicide.

Sometimes people do not think rationally, they are only thinking about themselves and the pain they have or want to cause others. Some just simply don't value life for whatever reason. Others feel like its the only way out before they become a burden on others. The point is, there are several reasons but that doesnt make it an OK solution. I think for everyone that wants to kill themselves, perhaps there is another person out there who could convince them not to. Anyone who feels like they want to commit suicide should seek help via loved ones and/or counseling.

If you mean in terms of occupations, probably members of the armed forces, police officers, and perhaps truck drivers. Truck driving is a field where a number of military vets get involved because war made them more isolated from others. Driving a truck is mostly a solitary job, and it allows someone to feel in control while they are on the road.

Of course, living situations and disabilities are also a factor. Those estranged from their families are more likely to consider suicide than those in loving relationships. LGBT persons are more likely to commit suicide than heterosexuals. Divorced people are more likely to commit suicide than single people and happily married couples. Those who become disabled later in life may be more likely to commit suicide than either those disabled very early in life (excluding certain mental conditions) and those who suffer no disabilities.

IQ can be a factor to a point. Those who are right below the normal range are probably more likely to commit suicide than those in the normal range and those who are profoundly mentally challenged. Things are perhaps the hardest on those who have cognitive disabilities and are fully aware they have them.

Megan Meier had been bullied most of her life and she never had any real friends. Her mum let her set up a myspace page because it might help with her self-esteem and confidence. She was pronounced dead the day after.

In the UK for example it is also illegal to fail to prevent a suicide you knew was going to take place. Failing to prevent a suicide you knew was going to happen in the UK and some other countries can get you charged with the offence of "Assisted Suicide" or "Suicide Accomplice".

Although suicide is illegal in some countries, the individual will not face criminal arrest. Instead they will be summoned to attend counselling and medical procedures to help them overcome the suicidal thoughts.

However, if the individual continues to attempt suicide or fails to show for a summoned counselling session, a warrant may be issued for your arrest in some countries.

For example, under the Mental Health Act of the UK, you can be arrested and imprisoned within a specialist psychiatric hospital if you are believed to be a serious risk to yourself.

Probably because when kids hit the teens they change and pull away and want more alone-time. Hanging out with the parents is not always popular and they usually spend most time in their rooms. As a parent you just think "OK, he's a teen and this will pass". You never know how your kid will change. Taking contact and tell people how we feel must come from both directions. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
