How can I tell if my baby is teething?

Teething in babies generally occurs around the age of 3-12 months. Some common symptoms are soreness of the gums, drooling, and even the refusal to eat. Babies may also resort to gnawing on chew toys to relieve tension in their gums. Mild pain killers suitable for babies can be administered to help relieve pain. However, do not administer 'aspirin' to your baby; as it has been linked to Reyes syndrome.

My baby is teething and I would like to find something for him to chew on, however I'd like to know whether or not there is any filling that is dangerous to my baby in any of those toys?

Teething rings are great. I like the one where its filled with liquid and you chill the ring in your fridge. I thought it could be dangerous until I read the safety ratings theres a zero percent chance that it would break its made very well and its harmless. There are several of these rings available any of them would work. I usually get mine from walmart.

What is the function of dentine in a mammalian tooth?

It is one of the 4 components of the mammalian tooth and is to be found just beneath the hard enamel outer layer or in ridges between ridges of hard enamel. Being softer than the enamel, in herbivores (like the elephant) the dentine wears away faster ensuring that the roughness of the tooth surface is maintained as the tooth itself wears away. In omnivores and carnivores, it mechanically supports the enamel surface and protects the tooth pulp and nerves.
