The Jiggle pin allowes any trapped air behind the thermostat to pass through. Without this the engine could overheat. The thermostat uses engin coolant to melt a wax capsule and allow coolant to pass. The engin could be at operating temp and the thermostat would not open due to air being in contact with the capsule instead of the actual coolent. This would most likely lead to an overheating engin, and damage.

It depends on the model. Some don't have a defrost heater at all, only a timer. On models with a heater, it's either mounted to the evaporator, or actually woven into the evaporator.

You'll need to gain access to the evaporator coils - they're typically at the back of the freezer covered by a panel of some sort. If it's mounted to the coils, then you may be able to replace it yourself.

Also, the heaters rarely go bad - check the defrost termination thermostat as well. If it's near freezing, it should be closed (allowing power to flow to the heater). If it's above freezing, it should be open (cutting power to the heater).

Check the cooling system, and I mean everything. Thermostat, temperature sesnor(s), radiator clogs, radiator cap, badly damaged water pump, belts, you could simply need to add more antifreeze. If it isn't your coolant system, then it's your driving habbits or driving conditions, in which case you may want to slow down, get a car that can handle harsh driving, or upgrade your radiator.

Also check that your electric fan is coming on.

There are two ways to do this. Fist is there is a small nut located behind the heater coil on the thermostat. It takes a special wrench to turn this nut. You can get them where you buy your thermostat.

The second way is to back off the screws that hold the backer plate to the wall and check it for level. Once it is level tighten the screws and connect the thermostat back to the backer plate.

This is just one possibility. This is what I did. We have a bi-level house and the thermostat was down stairs like yours is. What I did was move the thermostat upstairs. I was lucky though cause I was able to access the top floor through a closet down stairs and then ran it up the wall. Then the down stairs was freezing at first so what I did was close the down stairs vents some and it cools the upstairs great now. The down stairs is definitely cooler now, but the the upstairs is tons better. Hope this helps. Good luck.

The compressor may be on if there is a malfunction in the thermostat or temperature sensor, causing it to not accurately detect the temperature. one way a COOLING SYSTEM thermostat is a temperature-sensitive valve, inside it has a pellet of wax(is more like a chamber full of wax) enclosed in a cylinder piston chamber.when heated the pellet expands and pushes against the return spring to open the valve. when the engine cools the wax pellet will retract and the oposite will occur. it would be easier if i could show you an expanded view of a thermostat

Certainly. If the engine coolant is flowing freely into the radiator, it will remain quite cool and the coolant that circulates into the heater core will never warm up. The thermostat blocks the coolant from entering into the radiator if the temperature is below the set level on the thermostat. Usually 185, or 195 degrees F. Engines don't run as efficiently at the lower temperature either, so if the thermostat isn't working right, replace it.

if you are able to take it out..do so, then put it in a pot with water, turn up 2 a boil...if ur "stat" opens that's good.....if not..bad.....and it should reclose when you let it cool off...

As far as I know this works.

Start the engine cold and make sure you have enough water (cold) in the radiator to see it after the cap has been removed.

Start the engine and let it idle. Put the tip of your finger into the water in the radiator.

After the engine begins to heat up the thermostat's function is to open and allow the water to flow through the block. When this happens the water will suddenly get very warm. If this doesn't happen the Thermostat is either bad or the water pump isn't working.

It depends really, some wrestlers will hate each other, when Andre The Giant had a rivaliry with Hulk Hogan, they didn't hate each other on TV, but when the Rockers split up, Shawn Michaels hated Marty Jannetty for real too, and tried to kill him apprently.

Rivalries in the ring are for in the ring. Rivalries outside the ring are they're own personal lives. You don't have to like everyone just cuz you work with them. Hogan/Savage, Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels all had personal problems with each other outside the ring and those rivalries are still going on today.

REPLACEMENT IDLERS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM FORD, SO YOU HAVE TO KNOCK OUT BEARING AND REPLACE IT WITH NEW ONE. BEARINGS ARE COMMON AT MOST JOBBERS FOR LESS THAN 5 BUCKS. REMOVE SERPENTINE BELT REMOVE IDLER BOLT AND PULLEY, REPLACEMENT IS REVERSAL OF THIS. LOWER ENGINE, TIGHTEN MOUNTS AND YOU ARE READY TO GO.
