My answer to this question is soley MY oppinion and no one elses.
I was online searching for this answer myself, and i came across an article that kind of shocked me. It was 2005 when Jeff Hardy worked for TNA. It was said that Abyss (Chris J. Parks) had asked for more money concidering the fact that his contract had expired a few months prior and no one noticed in management. In the article it also said that he told TNA management that he had an offer from WWE. All Abyss asked for was his salary for PPV matches to be doubled from $500 to $1,000. Now as to what Abyss made during the year with out PPV matches in unknown to me any way. How ever in the article it also said he had the potential to make $50,000 that year with TNA. Now with all the back drop out of the way, here is my answer.
Now i have been a fan of TNA for nearly 2 years, which i admit is not a very long time for the 5 years they have been around. How ever i have done my research, it speaks clearly that if any one else looks back Abyss is a very talented and athletic guy for his size. I more note this in his matches with AJ Styles. Where they pushed each other to the limit. Now a man that stands 6'8" and roughly 300 lbs Abyss knows how to throw his body around like a cruiserweight. So i don't feel that $500 dollars for matches like: Prison Yard, Barbed Wire Massocre (2 of them), Monster's Ball, and cage matches. Not mention brutal attacks that even make HARDCORE wrestling fans go "Oh my god!" I totally agree Abyss needed more money. Look at his arms. Those scars are more than just battle wounds. They are a grim reminder that stuff does happen in wrestling. I think every one can see it from this perspective. Is $500 dollars enough for Abyss to go into a match and possibly never walk, see, hear, or even breath again? As a wrestling fan for nearly 15 years and an aspireing wrestler i have nothing but respect for Abyss, for all of the blood he lost for TNA and his skills in the ring. That is my answer that Abyss is tired of putting his life on the line for little money when guys like Kurt Angle are getting all the money and fame for their name and nothing more.
