Turn Signals and Hazard Lights

Turn signals and hazard lights refer to the lights on an automobile designed to alert other drivers or pedestrians. Turn signals indicate where the vehicle intends to go, while hazard lights warn others of an emergency.

Why do your hazard lights come on when you put your left turn signal on?

A broken part in the steering column or an electrical short in your wiring.

Why is your turn signal making a buzzing noise and not working correctly sometimes on a 2000 grand am se it's not the bulbs?

signal light combi switch is worn out the copper contacts are to soft and wear out easily another common one is the flasher its built into the four way switch

My 2000 Grand Am SE 2.4 made an on again off again electrical buzzing like noise that sounded like someone trying to jump start Frankenstien in an old movie. It seemed to be coming from the middle of the dash. You could feel it buzzing when you touched the hazard button plus my turn signals and hazard lights did not work. turned out there was a special policy thing like a recall where the hazard flasher had to be replaced. Pontiac did it for free and all my signals work now but I still have a noise from the flasher. You can hear it clicking after I turn off the turn signal. It eventually stops after a few minutes until I use the turn signal again. I was told my multi function turn signal switch is bad like the other guy above said. My Pontiac dealer wanted over $300 to fix...OUCH!

Why is the turn signal relay making noises?

for saftey.its a good idea because my car has it. almost every car has it a nissan, lexus, dodge, etc.

Turn signal on 1994 Z28 Camaro inoperative fuse and relay ok what else could be the problem?

Why would your blinker start blinking really fast and both of the brake lights go out on a 2003 Ford F150 Truck?

i don't know if it is a Ford thing, but my dodge did somewhat the same thing... my blinker would flash very fast on the dash and it turned out that my bulbs were out in the rear (maybe that is the problem and your brake lights are connected). When the bulbs burn out the circuit is shorted.

Where is the turn signal flasher on a 2003 mustang located?

I have a V6 O3 Mustang and I bought it in October of 02 so it may be different but the reason it is hard to find it is on the driver's side under the dash. What makes it hard to find you don't look for a black cubed relay that plugs in. It has a yellow casing like a rectangle with a plug going into the back of it with some wires. Once you find it look into the casing and you will see the prongs down in the casing. It is a plastic casing. May be another color. If you are not sure it will have the part number on the end. I found mine down at the bottom over by the radio but very visible and easy to find. One thing to remember if it has been placed before it could very well be blue. They are 31.30 cents out in Loganville Ga. Mine is a 6 prong plug.

Your 1998 Buick park ave right turn signal does not work but the left turn signal works the red flashers work and your husband said it has nothing to do with the lights in back or fuses you are trying?

You probally have a bulb gone on the right side for your turn signals. When a bulb is gone the lights will not flash but instead come on solid.

If your bulbs test OK or replacing them does not fix it, you may have the problem I had.

If your emergency flashers work but one of the turn signals will no longer come on, the most likely part failure is the multi function turn signal lever. If

A simple test for this is to remove the light bulb from the cornering lamp (the bright light that illuminates the side that you are turning to, not the turn signal bulb). After removing the bulb, retest your turn signal. If, like mine, it resumes flashing, that would indicate that the turn signal lever can not handle the electrical load anymore and may need to be replaced. Or if you can live without the cornering lamp, you can postpone the repair til a later date. You can test the resistance on a couple wires in the C202 connector to be sure. - bowfan

Listen 2 ME HE Is So RIGHT,,, The Front Cornering Lights Draw Tons Of AMPS and in 1996,97 to 2012 Buick has there turn signal statts made in Canada which is great but the signal stats can not handle the cornering light loads and then the turn signal stat contacts BURN OUT" So Remove Your Cornering lights to Save Your Signal Stat and if State inspection give you issue then put in a White LED light. new signal stat run 160 bucks off eBay to 350bucks at auto parts. Turn Signal Wiring Is 1 pink wire from ignition side fuse box to turn signal switch right/left use same power, orange wire left, black wire for right now your cornering lights draw many amps, now power goes to flasher relay modual located steering coloumn right side above relays, very short pigtail on Flasher Relay, Square pigtail with like 9 wire, inside relay is 2 flasher relays 1 for left / right the other for hazard light and looks like common ground for everything. How to change headlamp and turn signal bulbs on 2000-2005 Taurus?

These procedures are detailed in the Owners ManualSee "Related Questions" below for more Replacing Headlamp BulbsHow to replace the headlamp bulbs in a 2000-2005 Ford Taurus

To replace headlight bulb:

  1. Make sure headlight switch is turned OFF.
  2. Remove the bolt at the end of the headlamp housing.
  3. Pull the two black tabs with the L shaped bracket toward the back and then up and pull out(Located at the back of the headlamp) to release the headlamp assembly from the vehicle and pull headlamp assembly forward.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the bulb by pulling it.
  5. Remove the bulb socket retaining ring by rotating it counterclockwise.
  6. Remove the bulb from the lamp assembly by pulling straight back.

Do not twist, as there are alignment slots built into the lamp assembly socket.

It may take some effort to remove the lamp because it has a rubber o-ring type seal - try a bit of wiggling side-to-side

  7. Insert new bulb into headlight assembly - don't touch the glass - use gloves, paper towel, or similar

Make sure that the flat surface of the bulb socket is facing upward, and is firmly seated

  8. Re-attach retainer ring by rotating clockwise
  9. Reconnect the electrical harness
  10. Re-install headlight assembly - hold snugly into place until the brackets line up and retainer pins can be pushed down

Replacing front parking lamp/turn signal/cornering lamp bulbs

  1. Remove headlight / lens assembly per above steps
  2. Rotate the bulb socket of the offending bulb counterclockwise and remove from the lamp assembly.
  3. Carefully pull bulb straight out of the socket and push in the new bulb
  4. Install the bulb socket into the headlight assembly by rotating it clockwise
  5. Re-install headlight assembly - hold snugly into place until the brackets line up and retainer pins can be pushed down
NOTES
  • Do not touch the glass of the new halogen bulb - the oils in the skin will shorten the life-span of the new bulb, or possibly cause the bulb to explode when first turned on

If the bulb is accidentally touched, it should be cleaned with rubbing alcohol before being used.

  • This procedure is well detailed, with illustrations, in the Owners Manual.

Remove screws holding the plastic headlight and remove the headlight. Remove socket (twist/pull) and pull out the bulb.

DIY - 5 Minute Turn Signal Bulb ReplacementThis is very simple to do. First you will need an 8mm socket and wrench to loosen one bolt. Second a good long flat head screwdriver. There are two black metal folded tabs behind the headlight assembly and one 8mm bolt holding it in plae at the center point of the front of the car. Loosen the bolt and remove. Use the screw driver to pull up the metal straps and then slide forward the entire assembly. This will slide easily unless your front bumper has been bumped! That will make it a little difficult to slide if it is out of alignment. If it was never bumped than this should take all of 5 minutes. See pictures here:

It's actually quite easy. You must remove the entire plastic housing. Behind the light there ate two locking bars that slip up and down. Remove those and a screw holding the light/lens in place. From there remove the bulb covering, then remove the twist lock holding the bulb in place. After that, just pull the bulb out and replace. Put back in reverse order.

Open the hood, looking down at the headlamp assembly, you'll see a 5/16 retaining bolt on the inboard corner. Remove the bolt. Look for two tabs at the rear of the assembly. Pull up and remove these tabs, you may need a large screwdriver to lever them. Pull the assembly out and remove the wiring harness attachment. Turn the retaining collar to the left and remove. Unplug the wiring socket from the lamp. Turn the lamp retaining collar to the left and remove. Pull the lamp out of the assembly. Replace with the new lamp, being VERY careful not to touch the lamp other than on the base. Halogen lamps will heat up any oils from contact with your hand and probably explode. Reverse the above directions to reinstall the headlamp assembly.

Very easy. 2002 Ford Taurus.

Take a look at the entire headlight assembly. Look down on the assembly and toward the side closest the radiator you will see a small bolt to unscrew on each housing.

Look toward the rear of the headlight and you will see two metal clips that need to come out. A medium size flathead will get them started but they should come staight up. The assembly will now pull out of the front of the vehicle. Be sure to unclip the small wiring harness.

Uncrew the back of the assembly and you will see the back of the bulb. Detach wiring. Unscrew the ring holding the lamp. Remove old bulb.

DO NOT touch the glass of your lamps! It will cause hot spots and the bulb will burn out.

Take new bulb and notice the notches...they will orient the bulb correctly. Screw on ring. Attach wiring. Screw on the back of the assembly. Attach the wiring and install back into the front of your vehicle.

The headlight lens is held in with 1 bolt on the front inside end of the lens, and 2 retainer pins at the backside (pull straight up to remove).

The Owners Manual has the steps and illustrations around page 37.

Why would your turn signal blink erratically?

one of your left indicators(front or back) may have a loose connection with the bulb. Check these as one globe "out" will make the other link erraticly. This is to let you know that one globe is out or has a bad connection

A 1990 Mustang turn signals defroster and heater stopped working and the fuse is good where is the fuse in the engine located?

Each of those systems has it's OWN FUSE. Replace ALL of the affected system fuses with the proper size fuse in the correct fuse holder position, which is under the dashboard.

For a proper fuse diagram, go to a Ford dealer, in the parts dept ask for a photocopy of the fuse chart, and give the guy five bucks for his time and trouble, then buy the proper Ford fuses while you are there.

Further ideas. The heater and defroster have an electric motor that moves the air, is the motor burned out? Need to check that, too.

Turn signals, need a working flasher unit, to work properly, as well as four working turn signal bulbs. Check the flasher unit, located under the dash, silver round thingy with prongs that go into the fuse block, left side under dash. Check the turn signal and brake light bulbs, for proper operation , too.

Sounds like the ignition switch is coming a

part. pull the lower colum trim to see the switch. they separate where the plastic joins the metal. you can push it back together and bend the tabs back to secure it or replace the switch.

What could cause a 99 Chevy Malibu's left tail lights not to work but brake-turn do?

To be more specific, the ground wire must work and the bulbs, fuses, etc.. Or the back up lights and turn signals and brake lights wouldn't work? Right? Could it be the back panel...and still let the brake/turn/backup lights work? I need help fast. Thanks!

How to you remove the turn signal wiper switch on a 1992 GMC Jimmy?

Just pull the stalk straight out and it pops out. Then trace the wires down to the connection point under the dash. Use a wire or string to connect it to the old wire before you pull it through the column to make installing the new one easier.

Why won't turn signals on 1994 Mazda truck work?

you have to replace your turn signal flahser relay, buy one so you will know what you are looking for under dash by steering wheel.

How do you fix the blinkers on 1987 LeSabre Is there a flasher?

The flasher is under the dash by the steering wheel column and there are two - one for four ways and one for turn signals. Also check and see if you have any burnt out bulbs as these will also cause them not to work. A burnt out bulb in the front will not let the rear signal work.
