What does processed through sort facility mean for USPS?

User Avatar
As mail passes through the sorting machines, a record of the mail is created and tracking information is sent out. If your package went through a sort facility, it should be out for delivery the same day, or maybe early the next morning.

Are used stamps worth anything after usps postmarks?

User Avatar
For any collectible to be worth anything, it must be rare, unique and/or wanted by somebody else. Nobody is going to pay a lot of money for something they can buy anywhere, from anybody. Stamps, if they are kept unused and in mint condition, can maintain their face value and actually increase in value as time goes by. A used stamp, if it is still in good condition and the postmark is not too intrusive, is still worth something to somebody. Many of the most valuable stamps in the world have been used, but they were made many years ago and are considered rare and/or unique, that is where the value, if any, arises.

What is the difference between UPS and USPS Priority Mail?

User Avatar
UPS is a publicly-traded company (ticker: UPS) that stands for United Parcel Service. USPS stands for the United States Postal Service and is a quasi-governmental agency. USPS is self-funded through the sale of postage stamps and delivery services. There is little difference between the two shipping services. However, USPS Priority mail is generally guaranteed to reach its destination within 2-3 business days, and UPS Ground can sometimes take up to 2 weeks. UPS also offers airmail service, which reduces the length of time, and depending upon where it is being shipped to, can be delivered next day. USPS has strict weight and package size guidelines, and UPS will allow any size other than that which is required to be transferred via freight service. UPS and USPS both offer competitive rates, and are far less than the rates of FED-EX. I hope that I have helped you out! New answer:

How do you find the face value of non-denominated USPS stamps?

User Avatar
Face value refers to the value that is printed on the face of the stamp. If you have a stamp that has no value printed on it, visit the USPS link, which provides a picture of all the non-denominated stamps and their face value. They are still valid for postage. The USPS now issues 'Forever' stamps. They are sold for whatever the current rate is for mailing 1st class stamp at the time the stamp is sold. After they are purchased, Forever stamps can always be used to mail a first class letter regardless of the future increases in cost. How long does it take to mail a letter in the same state?

User Avatar
I have found from experience it is possible to receive mail the next day even from a few states away. The USPS now uses Fedex to move some of their first class mail, so it seems they are able to move more of their mail quickly across the US. I suppose if you lived in a very small town, a long distance from any major town, and sent a letter to another very small town that was also a long distance from any major town, it might take more than a day on average, but I am always impressed how fast the US mail is compared to 10-20 years ago. Of course Christmas season when the post office has the big rush to mail lots of things your letters and packages might be delayed more than usual as well
