To reset the service indicator on 2003 Mercedes C230, turn on the ignition and scroll through the buttons on the steering wheel. Click on the next service due menu. Hold the adjustment knob on the left side of the cluster down, and hold for 5 seconds.

There should be 4 to 5 spring clips holding the top of the air box on. Pop these clips and the box should split in the middle. The filter is inside.

Best thing to do is take it to someone who does diagnostics, quickest way, but if possible avoid merc dealers as they charge a lot, shop around for a price. I was quoted £240 + VAT from Merc dealer to have diagnostic test but got it done for £58 by a guy who started his own merc repair business. He also quoted me £150 for the E service (plus parts) on my 2004 E220 CDI so I'm happy to have found him :)

Check the check valve located at the inlet of the fuel pump for leaks. It sounds like the fuel accumulator has failed. get under car , remove fuel pukp and accumulator assembly. Remove fuel accumulator, drain unit. Shake unit, if it has fuel inside it has an internal leak and must be replaced. The engine heatsoak causes fuel to boil, the accumulator maintains pressure to prevent this issue.

timing belts are usually changed every 100,000 miles and you should be go to go

Open the bonnet look at the engine cover, the blow off valve or dump valve is located behind the cover around the centre of the back edge of the plastic cover.

It is a small round black cylindrical plastic device that fails very often, so is always worth replacing with say a Forge DFV100, which is a much more efficient and prettier looking device.

If yours makes a 'fluttering' sound when the engine is first revved and then released, it needs replacing!

on most cars you can take off the complete handle and inside of the handle is the braking mechanism there is a screw with a cable attached to it in various fashions you tighten or loosen that screw until your brake is to your preference

I Have just bought mags with 235 / 45 R17 97W tyres - for my 2000 VW Golf - the wheel bolts are 5 / 100 and offset is 32-45 apparently normally tyres used for falcon or firebird.. i have been told the wheels are ok but the width e.g 235 is too big for golf and will adversely affect the steering - they advised a 215 or less / 45

Take the key to a VW parts dealer and have them cut you a new key...

It is probably just too warn out to recognize the key in the door...

I don't know if your talking bout the key itself or the button but if it's the buttons, get a new battery

Use an oil with the VW 502.00 rating, as given in VW's update of around 2004. Commonly available ones include Castrol Syntec 5W-40 and 0W-30 and Mobil 10W-40. Valvoline Synpower 5W-40 may also be available

Look for the trottle body. It's the part where the ribbed air intake hose that comes from the air filter attaches to the aluminium intake manifold. The throttle cable pulls the mechanism on top of the throttle body and thus opens the butterfly valves inside. This mechanism stops (rests) against a stopper when the trottle cable is not pulling it. This stopper is adjustable. It is basically grub screw (just a threaded rod) that screws through a lip in the body. At the side opposite the mechanism, there is a lock-nut, usually takes a 10mm spanner. Undo this lock-nut, and using a small (I think 3mm) allen key, screw the adjuster in or out. Remember to fasten the lock nut again!

Check blackwall. Should be around 32 psi if you are using the stock package that came with the car. Now if you are trying to alter the grip of your tire then 32 psi is what the manufacture recommends for that original equipment wheel and tire package only. Briefly, if you have aftermarket rims and tires then you have changed their equation and 32 psi is just a base standard to simply keep your tires stiff. Auto-Crosser, Drifters and Drag Racers change their tire pressure to suit there purposes and I myself never run as low as 32 psi on the street or otherwise.

Check the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter.
