Either because the linkage is broken or the gear inside the transmission is broken. Have a garage check it out and see what they can find.

Where could you findprint a wiring diagram for a 98 VW Beetle TDI?

Haynes or Bentley Manual, available at most autoparts stores or the dealer parts counter.

You have had all 4 door ajar switches replaced door ajar light still on mechanic said you may need to replace the one under the dash anyone know anything about this switch?

Never heard of one under the dash, but there is a fifth one located inside the tailgate. This one is fairly easy to access (remove the inner tailgate panel and peel back the moisture barrier), but it's part of the latch and cannot be replaced independently (you must replace the entire latch mechanism). The sensor is a small cylinder attached to one end of the latch and easy to identify because it has a removable electrical plug.

You smell gas inside an '86 blazer when you start it and its running and have idle problems?

An 86 Blazer has an early fuel injection system called throttle body injection. However, any time you smell raw fuel, whether on start or during running, it means fuel is outside of the engine, not inside. That's not good. You could soon be looking at fire trucks hosing down your vehicle while the roads commissioner is totaling your bill for ruining that particular stretch of their highway. Either way, your vehicle is done for. Get the gas leak fixed BEFORE you recreate your own version of Cheech and Chong's movie, "Up In Smoke".

1998 Volkswagon Beetle Bug Alarm goes off when trying to start?

Disconnect the battery, turn the key to the on position (the position where the engine light comes on). Reconnect the battery and alarm should stay off, then continue to start the car.

Been reading all the blogs on how disconnecting the battery and EPC should reset the alarm...doesn't work! But my method worked everytime..."Good Luck"

Replace sentra CD player?

You'll find access to the stereo by removing the ashtray and all screws along the panel enclosing the stereo. You may find it easier to remove the panel enclosing the shifter for more clearance. With the stereo screws removed, disconnect antenna wire and squeeze to disconnect plugs to stereo. You'll save time if you check your new stereo antenna plug. A Nissan has a 2 prong and most stereos have a single prong, which requires an antenna adaptor. If your stereo did not come equipped with the matching plugs to use your existing Nissan stereo plugs, you can purchase one cheaply at your local Walmart and wire in into the stereo wiring.

How do you change the spark plugs on a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?

In order to change the spark plugs on a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica w/3.8L engine the upper intake manifold will need to be removed in order to access the 3 front spark plugs. The 3 rear plugs however are very easily accessable. once the upper intake manifold has been removed (approx. 12-15 bolts) the coil packs will need to be unscrewed and removed in order to gain access to the spark plug. Seeing as how the throttle body must be removed, now is a good time to spray it all down with throttle body cleaner and clean out the IAC (idle air control) won't hurt either. A new set of upper intake gaskets will be needed in order to re-assemble the upper intake manifold in order to prevent any vacuum leaks. Make sure to torque all plugs and bolts to factory specs to prevent leaks or even possibly breaking bolts on reassembly. As extra precaution, once the manifold has been removed, I stuffed some workshop towels into the intake manifold on the block just in case I get clumbsy and drop a bolts or even some debris down there.

Job is fairly simple but time consuming. remember don't rush it and work clean and thoroughly and in case you think that you might forget how to re assemble evrything, take out the digi cam and snap some pics along the way as a refference point.

How do you change spark plugs on a 1996 Toyota Tacoma?

I've done it a few times on my 1996 Tacoma 2.4L engine. You need a 5/8" spark plug socket (3/8" drive preferably) with the foam rubber insert that holds the spark plug once it's loose. And a ratchet and extension (12" is enough I think). Then, one by one (for each spark plug), remove the spark plug wire, use the ratchet/extension/socket to remove the spark plug, reverse the process to install the new spark plug. One thing I ran into this last time was that the foam rubber insert in the spark plug socket held the spark plug more tightly than the socket was held on the end of the extension (it was a brand-new spark plug socket), so I had to back that first one out and only very gently push the replacement spark plug into the spark plug socket so the foam rubber insert barely held it enough to lower it down into the hole for the spark plug (through the valve cover).

Answer

When light is on bring it to a shop that has an ABS scanner

it happened the same to my 99 beetle i scanned it and the code came up to be abs pump, i replaced it with a used part but light still on. if you plan it to do it your self you need to be really prescise when thighing those line bolts i already screw one of them and had a leak, had to use the old block with the new pump.

but my abs light still on. could be a faulty part. but i figured there is an abs relay on the firewall. will try that tomorow.

How do you change the spark plugs in a 1995 Buick Roadmaster?

Carefully. To be honest, you need a spark plug socket, a socket wrench to fit the spark plug socket, and a 3inch socket extension. You will have 4 spark plugs on each side, sadly, 3 are somewhat difficult to reach. Only do 1 plug at a time, so as not to lose the firing order (car most likely wont start if its wrong). I recommend starting on the driver's side as they're they easiest to get. simply pull off the boot to the spark plug you want, then fit your SP socket to the plug and attach the wrench, hold firmly with one hand to the back end of the wrench and twist anti-clockwise with the other hand (if you fail to hold the wrench end with the one hand you may break off the plug and have a much more difficult time getting it out). Once removed, examine the spark plug for any unusual wear (can be a good indicator of how your engin is doin, albeit running hot, burning oil, etc.). Typical wear is a faded white with minor tarnish. Insert and hand fasten the new plug, refit the boot (be sure to feel it "snap" into place) repeat for each plug. By the way, the hardest ones to get (In my opinion) are the rear driver (furthest to the rear of the car, rear passenger, and front passenger (most difficult because of the altenator, which can be done without removing). Also, if you see metal on the outside of a plug, on the boot, that is the heat shield, it pulls off easier than the boot, but be sure to put it back on after replacement of plug. A small mirror is recommended for those hard ones, such as a wife's compact.

How do you adjust the timing on a 1981 Jeep CJ5 from the distributor cap?

- Do not adjust timing on anything from the distributor cap. You can adjust timing by moving the distributor.

- You need a timing light and timing needs to be at top dead center to start. Then make a visible mark on base of distributor and engine block so you know where distributor was when you started. That's in case you need to start over.

- Loosen the bolt that holds the distributor. Only loosen it enough to move the distributor.

- Now hook up the timing light, being careful not to get hit by fan, or caught in the fan belt. Aim the timing light at timing marks on the front of motor. You may need a second person to move the distributor for you. This gets moved very slowly, a tiny amount at a time.

- Using white out, color the correct timing line on front of engine so it will light up when using timing light.

- Start the engine while watching the light on the timing marks. You can tell the other person how much and which way to move the distributor. Move only until the marks are lined up .

- When it is correct it will look like the light is on all the time. When the distributor is in the correct position tighten the bolt that holds the distributor.

- After doing this, if the engine is backfiring, and you have previously had the distributor removed from the engine, it is most likely because the distributor is installed 180 degrees wrong.

- To correct the backfiring remove the distributor bolt, rotate the engine top dead center on the number one piston. If the rotor at this time is not pointing at the number one plug lead then carefully lift the distributor from the engine enough to rotate the rotor 180 degrees. Then re-insert the distributor and try timing from start again.

Spark plug change on 2002 Optima 6 cylinder Mechanic telling girlfriend will cost 500 Not true is it?

Unfortunately, there are several vehicles (quite a few of them are imports and even a couple domestic) that require removal of the engine to change the plugs. If yours is one, yea, that would be a realistic price. The intake plenium will need to be removed to gain access to the rear three sparkplugs. This is a job that requires some automotive repair skills, about on-par with changing a starter. There is a bent steel gasket that goes between the intake manifold and the plenium, it must be replaced. You can find it a the kia dealership, or Hyundai's parts department has them also, as the Sonata 2.7 V6 uses this part also. Be sure to use premium platinum sparkplugs! Standard plugs will wear out quickly and require this process to be repeated. The sparkplug wires should be replaced when changing the plugs. They cannot be changed without pulling the plenium either. I paid $23. for the gasket, $68. for the plugs and $60. for the wires in March of 08. It took just under two hours from when I popped the hood to when I washed my hands, working at a very leisurly pace. Good luck! SJMCDO
