Like other Middle Eastern cuisines, Yemeni food is generally split three ways: (1) mezze, (2) meat dishes to be eaten over rice, (3) meat dishes to be eaten with bread. The mezze are small appetizers that are similar to those found elsewhere in the Middle East like humus, babaghanouj, foul, fasulia, and simple salads.
