There is debate about the dash between the two words. Inside Self Storage, the largest publication in the industry, seems insistent on using the dash. However you'll notice the majority of self storage facilities and other websites (including selfstorage.com) do not use a dash.

Since self storage is short for "self-service storage," it makes more sense to me without a dash.

What is a dash punctuation?

A dash is a punctuation mark that is used to indicate a pause or break in a sentence. There are two main types of dashes: the em dash (—) and the en dash (–). Em dashes are longer and are used to set off a phrase for emphasis or clarity, while en dashes are shorter and are typically used to show ranges or connections between numbers or words.
