Death Valley is home to several notable bodies of water, despite being one of the hottest and driest places on Earth. The most significant is Badwater Basin, which is the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level and contains a small salt flat and a few seasonal pools of water. Other ephemeral water sources include the Furnace Creek area and some small springs that can appear after rare rainfall. However, these bodies of water are often temporary and can quickly dry up in the extreme desert conditions.
bodies of water in the coastal plain are PACIFIC and ANTARCTIC.
