As of my last knowledge update in October 2023, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh (HP) is Shiv Pratap Shukla. He took office on July 22, 2021. Please verify for the most current information, as political positions can change.
Yes, it is possible to adjust the governor on a 5 hp. It is a complicated process, but a properly adjusted governor can maintain a steady engine speed.Ê

To remove the governor from a 5 hp Tecumseh engine, first ensure the engine is turned off and disconnected from any power source. Next, locate the governor linkage connected to the throttle arm and the governor gear. Carefully detach the linkage and remove the governor gear, usually found on the crankshaft, by unscrewing any retaining bolts. Finally, reassemble the throttle linkage without the governor components, ensuring that the throttle operates smoothly without interference.
If you don't want the engine to blow up, yes.
It is either your governor control needs some attention or the carburetor needs a cleaning and adjustment.
The speed governor can be easily removed with an aftermarket tuning program like HP Tuners or EFI Live.
Setting the governor on a mower engine depends on whether it is a mechanical or pneumatic governor and the type of control that is used. The governor plays a very important part by keeping the engine from overspeeding and causing possible damage. I suggest you check out a book on Briggs engines at your local library and find the procedure for setting the type of governot equipped on your engine.
it would make 12 hp but if you manually over ride the governor aroun16 to 18 hp WOULD NOT RECOMMEND RUNNING LIKE THIS FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS MINUTE AT MOST AS IT COULD BLOW AS IT WAS NO MADE FOR THE SE PARAMETERS unless you upgrade the engine GOD bless
Probably some debris or goop buildup on the bearing or the area where the governor shaft fits into the engine. Try cleaning the area well and spray with lubricant (WD-40, et al) and then "rock" the governor lever to loosen any remaining buildup. Re-spray the area. The governor has very little movement, so don't try to force it.
it could be caused by a few different things. the pneumatic governor or a fuel issue. an easy test is to hold the throttle on the carb closed to an idle. if it continues to surge then it is a carb issue, if it stops it is a governor issue
hi,you can reset the govenor like i did,i bought a replacement chip for the ecu which takes it off also adds a little hp,you can get these for around £60 off eBay
