It would be worth spending a few dollars to have your coin authenticated. There are numerous counterfeit dollars on the market. If genuine, its retail value as of 10/2008 ranges anywhere from about $330 in very worn condition to $870 in almost-new condition.
FWIW, all U.S. dollars except for the current Presidential series will have an eagle on the back, so that's not really a distinguishing image.
