1924 St Gaudens(designer) AKA (Double Eagle) $20 gold coin has 0.9675 ounces of pure gold. Almost one ounce of gold. If the coin is slabbed in a reputable coin holder(such as PCGS or NGC) the grey sheet applies for numismatic value. Raw or unslabbed (sealed in plastic holder) Uncirculated coins are worth much more to numismatists(coin collectors) than circulated coins. If the coin grades less than VF-20 it is not collected or sought by serious collectors and would be worth approimately gold spot if you are selling to the public. But coin dealers pay up to 5-25% less than gold spot price for bullion coins that are heavily worn. I have a slabbed 1924 MS-62 worth$1540-$1580 approximate grey sheet price. Hope this answer helps. You can get a price guide at any Library for more info on coins, but prices in most books are retail prices so expect 25% to 40% less from a dealer when selling. Good Day! Patrick
I hope you know the coin is not gold, just gold colored. Unless it's a proof coin it's only worth a dollar.

This is not a coin made by the US mint. It is probably worth only the metal value. It could be that it is only gold-plated. If it is pure gold then it is worth whatever amount of gold is in the coin.
