TEXAS. When James K. Polk set out for "Manifest Destiny"(Westward Expansion) he set up his men on the border of the U.S and then Mexico, intimidating them. Mexico got scared, just after fighting their war, so they made a treaty and gave the U.S Texas. We also bought the southern portion of Arizona from Mexico for 11 million dollars. That was called the Gadsen Purchase
