The Republican Party had taken a firm and explicit anti slavery stand. Although their platform for 1860 was to leave slavery alone where it already existed, they were determined to enact legislation such that no more slave states would be admitted to the Union. The southern ploitical leadership feared that it would be only a matter of time before slavery was abolished. Michael Montagne

What did Lincoln fear would happen if he made slavery the issue of the civil war?

That there would always be hatred between the North and the South.

Was Abraham Lincoln black or white?

Abraham Lincoln was white and even showed hatred for blacks, it is excepted as fact that the only reason for him freeing the blacks was in hope of revolt in the southern states, similar to the Haitian revolution. "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or destroy slavery." Abraham Lincoln

Why did john booth kill Lincoln?

Booth was a Confederate sympathiser who planned to kidnap Lincoln and take him south, to be exchanged for a large number of war prisoners . However, Lee's surrender made this scheme impossible, so Booth, bitter at the South's defeat, and perhaps ashamed of never having served in the army (though perfectly fit for military service) decided to murder him instead.Booth was a Southern sympathizer who wanted the South to win the War. His assassination of Lincoln was part of a conspiracy- the plan was to kill Vice-President Johnson and Secretary of State Seward that same night.Booth apparently thought the death's of these people would give the Southern leaders inspiration to renew their fight for independence. I think he also had a hatred for Lincoln as a symbol of a tyrannical government , if not as a person.

Why did Daniel vinyard get shot in American history x?

It is probably partly because Daniel Vinyard blows smoke in the face of another boy who then kills him, but since this boy provokes him first I do not think this is the main reason, it is essentially because his brother has brought about hatred towards black people which has had some influence on Daniel Vinyard, and a black person shoots him probably because he hates this, since hatred creates more hatred, also he may be from a rival gang to what Daniel Vinyard has been in. It is also possible that is he related to one of the people who Daniel Vinyard's brother Derek killed, so did this for revenge on Derek, as Derek has been let out of prison instead of staying to be punished. This shooting happens in this film to give the message that hatred is influential and has terrible consequences.

Why did white people lynch black people in the American South?

It was out sheer hatred, unnecessary fear, and and a false sense of their bodies versus black bodies.

Why was Abraham lincolin assassinated?

John Wilkes Booth was a supporter of slavery who always had a deep hatred of Abraham Lincoln. At Lincoln's second inauguration ceremony, Booth planned to assassinate him. Also, at one of Lincoln's famous speeches (the one that he gave standing on the balcony over the North Portico at the White House), Booth had a perfect shot to "finish the job," but would not do it. At Ford's Theater, however, Booth shot Lincoln in the back of the head, and escaped. It was because of Booth's deep hatred of Lincoln and the Republican Party that led to Lincoln's assassination.
