Nope! Not at all! I got Nookingtons without a single person coming to buy something from Tom Nook. All you have to do is just spend about 100,000 bells (something around that) at his shop, and you will get Nookingtons. So if you want Nookingtons REALLY fast, (if you have Nookway) Go and buy the five pieces of furniture, and all the wallpaper and carpet, (you can sell it back to Tom Nook for extra bells), then save. Go and change the time to the next day and repeat the same thing. Do this about 10 or 11 times and you will get Nookingtons. (You will have spent 100,000 bells. each item cost about 1,000 bells so buying all nine is about 10,000 bells a day, and when doing this for 10 days...ta da! 100,000 bells spent! And Nookingtons! This was how i got Nookingtons.)
