How do you beat the owl on Super Villain Island?

When you go through the doors in Binary Bard's dream, the stopwatch has to be used when the door is open its widest. Merlin the owl attacks you and keeps you from freezing the door when you need to. Run past him to the left, then back right just as the door opens, and you can freeze it before he can catch up to you.

You only beat two of the sleeping villains: Binary Bard and Black Widow -- Captain Crawfish is asleep in his own dream, and you have to rescue Dr. Hare from the ants. You will normally finish the dreams in the order 3, 2, 1, 4. Then you have the unexpected villain to face.

Binary Bard - after you have the stopwatch (dream #2) and the Crystal Key (dream #3) you can pass through the doors and enter Mordred's workshop. Jump past Merlin and freeze the door. Freeze the mouse and jump on top of his to cross the high wall. Jump to the spiky plants when the red side is up, and use the crystal key to reach the clock. (Pick up the diamond drill.) When the hands connect two of the power relays (i.e. either at 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock) you can freeze time and short out the clock, Doing this three times defeats the Bard and you get the Astrolabe totem.

Captain Crawfish - without disturbing any of the sleeping pirate copies, get the red key and open the chest on the lower deck to get the Stopwatch. Take the green key to open the chest at upper left, to get the Turpentine. Leave to use the turpentine and paint sprayer (from dream #4) to beat the Black Widow (dream 3). Come back with the shrinking potion from one of the paintings. Enter the bottle with the ship, and lock the two rolling cannons into their wooden boxes. Fire the cannon on the dinghy at the bottom to break the bottle and get the Ship Totem.

Black Widow - use the turpentine (dream 2) in the paint sprayer (from dream 4) to clean the three paintings. Pick up the shrinking potion and the crystal key. Spray the widow's self-portrait to get the Paint Brush totem.

Dr. Hare - dig down into the anthill and find the paint sprayer at the metal wall. Use it on dream 3. When you do dream 1 and get the diamond drill, return to dig through the metal to the bottom of the anthill, where you will find Dr. Hare and his Golden Carrot totem.

Dr. Jupiter / Zeus

When you land in the water, Poseidon will appear and give you his trident to use against Zeus. Fly to catch the pink clouds to maintain your health as you fire bolts at the 4 totems. Dodge the lightning bolts, meteors, and cannon balls. When the totems are knocked down, keep firing at Zeus until all of his own clouds are gone. Then shoot the glowing eyes of the statue to finish him off.

The object of the first part of the island is to recover the 4 totems, one of which is found when you defeat the final section of each of the dreams. You will be able to complete some dreams before others, and you cannot leave either of two dreams (Binary Bard, Dr. Hare) without restarting it.

The 4 totems are:

1) Binary Bard (Mordred) - Astrolabe Totem (in the giant clock chamber)

2) Captain Crawfish - Ship Totem (in the bottle on his shelf)

3) Black Widow - Paint Brush Totem (her self portrait)

4) Dr. Hare - Golden Carrot Totem (at the bottom of the ant nest)

To get the totems, first get the Stopwatch and the Turpentine from the chests in the Captain's dream, and the Paint Sprayer from Dr. Hare's dream. Use the turpentine in the sprayer to clean the paintings in Black Widow's dream (gets her totem). You get the shrinking potion and the Crystal Key. Use the shrinking potion to get into the ship in a bottle, and shoot the bottle with a cannon to get the totem. Use the stopwatch to get the Diamond Drill from Binary Bard's dream, and while there use the Crystal Key to reach him, and beat his clock to get the astrolabe totem. Finally, dig to the bottom of the anthill to get Dr. Hare's totem (near where he is held captive). So the usual order of completing the dreams will be 3, 2 & 1, then 4.

Answer 4

In Binary Bard's dream, you have to short out his energy clock, using the stopwatch to freeze the hands when both hands are on the power connections at 3, 6, 9, or 12, e.g. at times such as 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock. After 3 times, he is defeated and the Astrolabe totem falls out.

Freeze him near the right side. You can jump on him to get over the high wall.
