There are times I have to put a leaf bag on a pole, instead of a skimmer or rake, and use that. I also have a hose attachment that hooks up to a skimmer but so far, the Polaris has cleaned the bottom quite well. There are disposable liners for built-in skimmers that are like coffee filters. RG
