your rifle was made by Marlin fire arms co . It is basicly the same gun as a Marlin model 80 your rifle was made in the late 50s early 60s 1958 to around 1962 its about 45 years old

The 21 pound M-60 machine gun fired a .308 caliber round,(I know because I carried one).that being said;yes your Winchester model 70 will fire this round.You of course will have to strip the rounds out of the belt to chamber them in your model 70.
