I don't know if this is "fer shure" correct, but I saw a posting on the Web that said for another model of Stevens Savage shotgun the dating code had to do with a letter on the receiver. My 20 gauge has a "4F" on it next to the model number. The posting I saw said that Savage started dating in 1949 with an "A", then "B" for 1950, etc. So I'm interpreting my "4F" as being 1954. The posting said they skipped "O" and "Q", so if your letter is greater than N you would would need to adjust for that. No guarantees that this is correct, but everything else about my gun (when it was bought, condition, etc.) suggests that 1954 would be about right. Hope this helps.

great condition of model 94 single shot 12 gauge Stevens about 50 to 55 years ols what is its value. thank you
what is the value
Springfield Arms shotguns were manufactured by the Stevens division of Savage Arms from 1920 to 1948.
Stevens made firearms in Chicopee Falls from 1864 to 1990 but the association with Savage did not begin until 1920 and if the gun is marked with both names, it was probably not made until after WWII. If it was manufactured after 1968 it WILL have a serial number, but if made earlier it MAY have one. A utility double barrel that shows some wear but is still functional is worth about $200-250.
Contact Savage Firearms Customer Service through their website. It is not a 31 gauge, as that does not exist.
