It depends on the Manufacturer, model, and series. I don't see why you couldn't change the barrel size if you find the barrels the same as the 20 inch models. A gunsmith should verify that the headspace is correct with the replacement barrel. The barrel length isn't the concern - it is the fit at the breech that might be off. If there is too much clearance between the end of the barrel and the standing breech, you might be unpleasantly suprised.
Wondering; although it might be confusing that thoughts, minds, can wander, too.
A cooper, who specializes in making and repairing wooden barrels, may be visited by brewers looking to age their beer, winemakers needing barrels for fermentation, or distillers requiring casks for spirits. Additionally, restaurants or bars that serve beverages from traditional wooden barrels might seek a cooper for maintenance or custom barrel creation. Collectors of vintage barrels or those involved in home brewing might also find themselves in need of a cooper's services.
Yes, 55 barrels of rocks would weigh more than 55 barrels of water because rocks are denser and heavier than water. The weight of the rocks in the barrels would be greater than the weight of the water in the barrels.
