Yes, many children felt homesick during World War II. As families were separated due to evacuation, military service, or displacement from bombings, children often found themselves in unfamiliar environments, such as foster homes or shelters. The longing for their homes, families, and familiar routines led to feelings of anxiety and sadness. Additionally, the trauma of war and loss exacerbated their emotional struggles.
Evacuees in World War II primarily left their homes to escape the dangers of bombings and military conflicts, particularly during the Blitz when German forces targeted British cities. The British government organized mass evacuations, especially of children, to safeguard them from the immediate threats of warfare. Many families were separated, as parents sent their children to rural areas deemed safer, while adults often stayed behind to support the war effort or manage their homes. This evacuation aimed to protect the most vulnerable and maintain morale on the home front.

During World War 2 French children had to leave their families and their homes in an attempt to flee from bombing taking place in the north Picardie region. These children were considered refugees and were often housed in Bretagne France. Those children that did not flee often died from the bombing, sickness, or malnutrition.
Jews had to leave their homes like they eventually had to leave everything.
I possibly think 1492 or 1776.

At the time of his death, in 1905, there were 112 district "Homes," besides various mission branches, throughout the world
Children would leave their homes and would be evacuated to somewhere safe like the countryside. Some of the mothers would be evacuated as well, some of them would even go to war to fight, but most of them stayed at their homes in the city, possibly facing their death. Children would go with their schools to the train stations and families from the countryside or any other safe area would come and choose the children they would like to come with them. The children would have to be well behaved and clean to get chosen.
Unfortunately some of the children who were evacuated were sent to homes where they were abused.
