The provisions of the Versailles Peace Treaty of 1919, drawn up (mostly) by the victorious French and British. American President Hoover had strongly warned against taking revenge on the Germans through the peace treaty, but his advice was largely ignored by the others. The provisions saddled Germany with enormous damage payments, it robbed Germany of the military manpower to restore order and establish a strong Government in its post-War turmoil, it gave away large parts of its territories and territorial posessions to others and through this combination crippled severely Germany's chances of political and economic recovery. The Great depression of 1929 came on top of all that, causing a runaway inflation that totally dissolved ordinary Germans' savings and pensions. The result was a political and social climate in Germany fraught with resentment and anger towards the Allies in which scapegoats were easily sought and named, "Jewish worldwide capitalism" being prominent among them. This climate also made possible the rise of the Nazi party and of Adolf Hitler.
Germany, named after a region of the country.
It did start World War Two. When the treaty was signed all the blame for the war was placed on Germany. They couldn't have a military and a heavy fine was placed on the country. Land was also lost and given back to France ( to this day the Germans grumble about that). All of this happened 20 years before WW2 began, but it set the stage for the war. Because of the conditions the German people were paying a heavy tax to pay back the fine, inflation was very high, people were out of work, and a man named Hitler came along. Hitler blamed the Jewish population for the troubles, and he used nationalistic dialogue to describe Germany. When he was elected to office he had a plan to take over the government and with the help of other nationalists he was able to do it. One of the things you have to remember in history is that it is all connected. If you can find an old PBS series called CONNECTIONS watch it. It tells how it is ALL connected.

The Euro currency was established in the Maastricht treaty in 1992 - and began 'life' as the ECU (European Currency Unit). It wasn't named the 'Euro' until 1995.
The Treaty of Versailles was a Paris Peace Treaty that dealt with Germany. The Paris Peace Treaties were named after the area it was signed such as St. Germain that dealt with Austria.
Hitler named the people who signed the Treaty of Versailles 'November Criminals'.
The U.S never ratified the Treaty of Versailles, President Wilson, although having assisted to compose the treaty, simply did not have enough political influence in U.S. congress. This resulted in the U.S. never signing the Treaty of Versailles and never joining the League of Nations, the U.S. did however, agree to a separate peace treaty with Germany in August 1921 named the Treaty of Berlin.
The Treaty of Versailles of 1919 is the peace treaty created as a result of six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919, which put an official end to World War I between the Allies and Central Powers. The ceremonial signing of the treaty with Germany occurred June 28, 1919. The treaty was ratified on January 10, 1920 and required that Germany and its allies accept responsibility for causing the war and pay large amounts of compensation (known as war reparations). Viewed as an unfair humiliation, the treaty caused public outrage in Germany. Like many other treaties, it is named for the place of its signing: the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles, the very place where the German Empire had been proclaimed, January 18, 1871 (below left). The choice of venue was not coincidental. France had two key aims in the Treaty of Versailles. France wanted Germany to be held liable for WWI and to receive reparations in order to rebuild its war-torn country. Secondly, France wanted a considerably weakened Germany that posed no threat to the French. In addition, France reclaimed Alsace-Lorraine back from the Germans. countries. British also wanted to weaken Germany, but not to the extent of making France the sole major power on the continent. British also liked the idea of having their navy as #1 without anyone, such as Germany, to defeat them. So basically the treaty made Germany reduce its military and pay back a large debt which caused them to become poor. So either way they could not afford a navy, and in the treaty it also did not allow them to have a large one.
Germany paid for everthing. That got a soldier named adolf hitler very pissed One of the lessons learned from the Treaty of Versailles was not to force reparation payments on the defeated country. There were no reparations for WWII.
Who was the treaty named after from the Louisiana Purchase
World War 1 and World War 2. World War 1 was caused due to assination World War 2 was caused due to Invasion of Poland, Allies not stopping germany from blackmailing countries and breaching the agreements of the treaty of Versailles.
The Treaty of Versailles was party to blame because it placed huge sanctions on Germany. This left Germany in a major economic depression (along with most of the world at the time) and the German people feeling very angry at the world for causing their problems. Enter a charismatic leader named Adolf Hitler. He rallied the German people and gave them people to blame their problems on, creating a huge wave of nationalism. This gave Hitler the strength to put his thousand year Riech dreams to work, starting World War 2.
Of all the losing countries in WW1, Germany was hit the worst for it's major participation in the war, including Zimmerman's telegram and the sinking of American and British ships in the Atlantic. Britain, France, and the United States created the Treaty of Versailles (named after the place it was written in Versailles, France), which disallowed Germany from expanding it's military forces any further and set up a border in the Rhineland where it could not cross in the Soviet Union. However, Germany broke both of these agreements before and during the second world war, which was partially started when Germany invaded the Soviet Union after it crossed the Rhine River.
During the time of the German Empire, much of current day Poland and Denmark was German territory. Germany also owned some current day areas of France. Overseas, Germany ruled Togo (which they named Togland), Rwanda, Tanganyika, Wituland, Kamerun and many other lands in South-West, Eastern and Western Africa. Germany also ruled Western Indonesia, small areas of China and even some of Antarctica. Much territory ruled by Germany was conquered in the first weeks of World War I, by Kaiser Wilhelm II. At the end of World War I, the Treaty of Versailles stripped Germany of all of its overseas colonies, making them into British and French "mandates" until they were ready for independence. Germany also lost many European territory due to the Treaty of Versailles.
National Socialism: the Nazis were extreme nationalists who were loyalty to their country. They wanted racial purity, equality and state control of the economy. Hitler wanted to nationalize large industries and businesses. Although his party was named the National Socialist German Worker's Party (NSDAP), they were not quite socialist. They named themselves this way in order to attract the middle class' attention, without having to make any policy to support this. However, they wanted to provide provisions for old age pensioners. The abolition of the Treaty of Versailles: Hitler had been a solider during the First World War. When the Weimar politicians agreed to sign the Treaty of Versailles, he was angry with them and with it. He thought that this treaty would ruin Germany. Almost every German was appalled when the treaty was signed. Hitler promised people that when he came to power he would abolish the terms of the Treaty.Racism: Only 'true' Germans to be allowed to live in Germany. Hitler believed that the Aryans (white Europeans) were the leader race. Therefore, he considered all the other races inferior. He particularly disliked Jews
The five treaties were named after the Paris suburbs of Versailles (Germany), St Germain (Austria), Trianon (Hungary), Neuilly (Bulgaria) and Serves (Turkey).
