Haemoturia - blood in urine. It is a body disorder due to disturbances in kidney function (Renal System), or it could be a urinary infection. Take your dog to the vet immediately as both health problems need to be dealt with as quickly as possible.

∙ 9y agoThere are many reasons for blood in dog urine. First of all, notice the color. If the blood is in the urine it will be a pinkish color; if the blood is bright red it is coming from the vagina or the rectum. If the dog is a female it will bleed for 7 to 10 days when in heat. The dog will need to be taken to the veterinarian for any other reason than a female in heat. Following are possible reasons for blood in the urine:
Urinary tract infection: you will notice the dog straining to pee and licking genitals. The vet will prescribe antibiotics. Bladder stones: dog will have painful urination and straining. Will require a change in diet and if the stones are large they will need to be removed surgically. In male dogs it could be a Prostate infection: dog will exhibit pain and difficulty and straining when urinating, also loss of appetite and fever. If dog is female it could be a uterine infection and urine will have a tomato soup color and the vet will prescribe antibiotics. Other possible causes are ticks or ingestion of rat poison containing Warfarin (from catching a rodent who was poisoned).
It is imperative that you take your dog to the Vet (if not a female in heat).
