Usally 8-9 Huskys or Malamutes, The strongest 2 go up at the colsest end to the sled, Then go the 2 dogs with the biggest coats, Then the 2 that are most average,Then, up frount go the 2 dogs that are best at navigating.

Or you could have that, then up at the very front put Rudolf (The Red Nosed Reindeer) or, by night I guess you could put the lighest Dog (EG White or Light Grey, one like that) and by day, the darkest coloured one.

Hope I helped :)

a lot of huskies or dogs with thick fur [snow dogs as they are most commonly known]

(AvalonHealer) I have a minuture Greman Spitz but the full size ones are used to pull sleds. But yea Huskies alot of the time. My German spitz has special pads that are really warm so that when hey run in the snow there pads don't get frozen.

(E S) The "Alaskan Husky" is generally the sled dog of choice. They are mixed breed dogs from husky parentage and may be mixed with sight hounds, other Spitz breeds, various shepherds, and any other breed in an attempt to get the traits that a musher needs, such as endurance, speed, strength, trainability, etc. Siberian Huskies are also common, and for heavy weight pully there's always the Alaskan Malamute or other large, sturdy, strong dogs. I've heard of poodles running the Iditarod. Just about any dog with the desire, strength, and endurance for the job can do it. Huskies and husky types have just been bred specifically for that purpose for a very, very long time.
