no. They are not thin or light. Dude they are thin, they are like regular tables but they are not very thick, or they may be thick but hollow inside cuz i could get a basketball and drop it on top and it would break, so fake. They're Home Depo cheap tables, but they are real and not pre-cut. The people break the tables with their own body weight crashing through them! It's not the smartest idea for you, personally, to start throwing yourself or your friends through tables, so don't be stupid and try it yourself. the anser above is correct. the tables are real, but they are pretty weak. i know this from personal experience

A light table is usually referred to as a table with a slightly transparent top with a light source underneath. This table is used to view photographic slides, photographic transparencies, film negatives and film positives to check color, quality and registration. You can also use it to trace other images onto paper or film. Before the advent of computers to set-up pages (layouts) for printing, light tables were used to layout typesetting and artwork onto "flats" prior to making negatives used to "burn" printing plates. The light tables allowed artists to see through the thin typesetting which was placed on the layout sheets that were prepared with faint blue lines to allow the type to be positioned easily.

Destructive interference. If the sheet is very thin, near half the wavelength of the incident light then light reflected from the top layer is out of phase with light reflected from the bottom layer. These two reflected light waves will cancel each other out.

For a light transmission microscope, a thin sample is needed in order for the light to pass through the sample from the light source on the other side. However, you can use a dissection microscope (another type of light microscope) which illuminates the sample from above, eliminating the need for a thin sample size. As the name suggests, this is normally used in dissections, and is of low magnification.
