Tito Francona, father of Boston Red Sox manager, Terry Francona,
was a lefthanded hitter who enjoyed a good career as an
outfielder/firstbaseman with several teams, breaking in with the
Baltimore Orioles in 1956. He also played for Cleveland, Detroit,
St. Louis, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Oakland and Milwaukee. Considered
a good contact hitter, he posted a career batting average of .272.
