Does PSI affect how a basketball bounce?
Yes it does . Lower psi than needed to completely fill the ball would make it bounce less. More would makeitbounce a bit higher . But only to a certain point
Bounce is affected by the elasticity of the ball and its internal pressure. The more elastic and optimum pressure, the better the bounce. However, weight is another factor, a heavy ball with the same elasticity and internal pressure as another ball will not bounce as high since force is a function of mass and velocity.
The elasticity of the material that the basketball is made of will effect the strength of the bounce. The material's elasticity is the ability of the material to go back to it's original shape after being squashed, which happens when you bounce it. So when you bounce the basketball the material is squashed, the elasticity will force the ball back up by trying to go back to it's original shape, therefore creating the bounce.
