Sometimes. As a professional athlete, Michael Jordan requires and can afford the best equipment to help him play sports. He is likely to purchase products from companies with high-end research and development.

However, many of these products are custom-made for him and not available to the general public. Even if they are available, a product well suited for him, his needs and his body (such as an athletic shoe) may not be well suited for someone else's. Professional athletes are often physically very different from the average person, and their occupation requires very different types of equipment. Many brands also produce high-end, middle-end and low-end product lines and a brand is not necessarily an indicator of quality.
