There are many different exercises that can be used to strengthen your core. My first suggestion would be taking as many Ballet classes you can. Basic ballet moves at the barre increase the muscles in your core used when dancing in the center. Another good method is to use ankle weights at the barre which increases the level or resistance. Aside from regular classes, I recommend working out at home or at the gym. Holding the plank position engages all of your muscles in your core along with other muscles in your body.
to acually do contemperary you have to learn how to do ballet. for ice scating if you dont know ballet it is going to be hard. ballet is like the core of jazz, modern, contemerary, ice scating and so many more.

It depends, you really work your whole body (I know this because I am a ballerina) but your legs are doing pretty much everything. Another place that should be very strong in a ballet dancer's body is the core (around the abs). The core helps the ballet dancer stand upright and strong.

For acro, you basically need a strong core and lots of upper body strength. If you've been learning to strengthen these muscles, then it shouldn't be too difficult. Good luck! ;D
The Dance Center of Kirkwood is good for not just ballet, but they have strong jazz and tap classes as well. If you're just looking for ballet or a studio with more ballet emphasis, then the St. Louis Ballet School or the Alexandra School of Ballet are very good if you live near Chesterfield, MO.
