you divide regularly but since both numbers are negatives the answer is positive

example -5 divided by -9 equals 45

## Related Questions Division and multiplication work the same when working with negatives. Both numbers negative = positive Both numbers positive = positive One number negative, and one positive = negative So, 63 divided by 7 equals 9, but one of the numbers, the 7, had a negative sign... so the answer is negative 9 or -9 A positive number times a positive number will always get you a positive number A negative number times a negative number will always get you a positive number (same signs will get you a positive number) but A positive number times a negative number will always get you a negative number or A negative number times a positive number will always get you a negative number (different signs will get you a negative number) No. Division by a number between 0 and 1 means larger. Division of a negative number by another negative number is always larger. It's saying subtract a negative number, so take away from something that negative is adding something positive. Think about it like this, If you have a number 5, and someone says to you take away from 5 negative 2, you'd have 7. If what you subtract from something is negative, you gain. I know it may not make sense, but think about it for a bit and I'm sure you'll get it, if not, just remember to do it when you're doing your work. It does not work that way. A negative power is simply the reciprocal. So that x-a = 1/xa The reciprocal is negative or positive according to whether the number itself is negative or positive. [And, if the number is 0, the reciprocal is not defined.] To find the reciprocal of a number, calculate [divided by] [the number]. Multiply the integer by -1 this makes the number positive. you try and work out if there are any other numbers that number can be divided by besides 1 and itself. Pretend the negative number is positivedivide the positive number by a positive numbermake the result negative. For example, divide 12 by -6:Pretend -6 is 6divide 12 by 6 to get 2make the result negative to give -2Thus 12 ÷ -6 = -2 Work the problem the same as usual, but then prefix the answer with the appropriate sign. First perform the division--numerator divided by the denominator--without regard to the sign. The sign of your answer depends on the combination of the signs of the numerator, the denominator, and the fraction itself. * If there are an even number of minus signs, the answer is positive. * If there are an odd number of minus signs, the answer is negative. * If there are an no minus signs, the answer is positive. Yes. If force is negative, then work will be negative. Yes. Work = F * change in distance; and change in distance can be negative (i.e. moving from far to close, d2 - d1 where d2 < d1) To work it out for yourself, you need to understand that a prime number is a number than can only be divided by 1 and itself. 18 can be divided by 2 39 can be divided by 3 42 can be divided by 2 which leaves 31 which can only be divided by 1 and 31. Not sure what you mean with "work"; an even number is a number that is divisible by 2, that is, if you divide it by 2, you get no remainder. An odd number, if divided by 2, has a remainder of 1. when work is positive and when playing is negative There are an infinite amount of numbers it can be divided by. If you mean divided with no remainder, just note that the prime factorization of 20831339 =389x53551 so either of those will work! A negative effect of the Industrial Revolution was crowded cities. Another negative effect of the Industrial Revolution was the unsafe working conditions and the exploitation of children to work in industries. generally, a number is considered divisable by another when it comes out to a whole number. for example, 8 / 2 equals 4, so they can be divided together. however, 9/2 = 4.5 so they can not be divided together in theory. with the number 7, you can divide 7 / 1 and it equals 7. however, 7 / 2, 7 / 3, ... 7 / 6 do not work together. it can only be divided by itself and by 1, so it is considered a prime number. 52•(-5)=52•5=260 since a positive number times a negative number equals a negative, the answere is -260 The opposite of dividing is multiplying. To find your number, work backwards. Multiply 10 times 5. That is your number. When work is done in negative it can effect how well the work is performed and the outcome of the work.
