My Uncle from St. Louis caught a foul ball from the 1982 World Series. His baseball has the 1982 World Series stamp on the baseball with a star stamp above the Rawlings logo. The 1982 World Series baseball is typically sold for more than other World Series baseballs. The 1982 World Series baseball could easily fetch up to $100 on eBay. I have not seen the stamp used on other game used World Series baseballs around that era. This is a very unique ball. IMO the value is easily over twice that of a non game used 1982 World Series baseball. Other 80's World Series baseballs would be hard to determine if they are actually game used. Since, the 1982 World Series had used a special stamp; these balls are easy to verify. Unless someone makes the star stamp the same size and stamped it to look similar. But, this would be costly to make a fake. Anyway, in my professional opinion, the baseball should sell for $250-$500.
2001 Game used World Series baseballs sold, and authenticated by Steiner Sports sell in the $100.+ price range. If you caught the baseball at the game it will be hard to prove that the baseball was used during a World Series game. A letter of provenance from a team player or league official would be acceptable to prove it is a World Series game baseball. Then it could have higher value. A letter of provenance from a fan at the game will not hold much weight if any.

You also have to determine which team signed the ball or if the signatures are of players from both World Series teams. In 1967 official regular season baseballs were used. It was not until 1978 when Rawlings started making the official World Series game baseballs that have an Official World Series Stamp. There is no way of telling the difference between a regular season baseball, and a World Series baseball from 1976. Rawlings started to make World Series baseballs in 1978 that features The World Series logo. If you have a signed baseball from the 1976 World Series then you would have to be more specific to who signed the ball. If you have a baseball that was used in the 1976 World Series without proper provenance that is was used in a Major League game or World Series it would be valued as a used baseball and have a low collectors value.
