Child support does not cost fico points unless it is been rated as a collection or a judgement. I can't say there is a "No."--if it is being reported badly--the scores will lower several points. But remember--if you are paying as agreed all the other credit, not over limits on any charge card and not over extented--then those points will cancel out some of the bad points.

When states determine the amount of child support a parent must pay they do not necessarily factor in the cost of living. If you send your child to the father for a year should you be required to send him the child support money back?

Yes, its child support. If the money is not used to support the child then its being misused. Alimony would be to support you. If the father is looking after the child, then he should not be paying child support to the mother - she doesn't have the cost of looking after the child at that time. In fact, the mother may well be in a position to send chilod support to the father - it goes both ways and she is responsible for the child just as much as the father is.

Can a father paying child support be forced to supply health insurance for the child?

If you are capable of providing health insurance for your child and the other parent can not for what ever reason then yes, you can be required to provide coverage. Child support is supposed to be support to cover the expenses for the child divided between the parents. Clearly the child needs a health insurance. The cost can be a part of the child support or be added. Both parents have a obligation to make sure the child can get care. Usually child support only covers a smaller part of what a child's expenses are, not 50/50. Each state has child support guidelines that take health insurance costs into consideration.

How are child support payments determined?

child support payment amounts are generally determined by the income of both parents, the cost associated with taking care of child (ex. child care expense, day-to-day care, medical expenses, etc), also child support takes into consideration if the non-custodial parent has any existing cases (other child support cases). If the non-custodial has other cases this will most likely lessen the monies you are awarded for your child(ren).
