Kids as young as 10 years old can enroll in Junior Open Water courses and those 15 years and older can enroll in an Open Water course. When offered, Junior Open Water (diving with adult supervision only) certified divers are automatically upgraded to Open Water divers on their 15th birthday with no need for re certification. This can vary depending on the certification agency involved.
You'll also need to be in good health with no major health problems.

∙ 13y agoIt depends upon the certifying agency. The youngest allowed is ten years old, however this is dependent upon physical capabilities and maturity. Scuba diving is an immensely enjoyable sport, but carries with it some inherent risks. All divers need to be mature enough to understand what these risks are and how to control them.

∙ 15y agoThis depends in most areas. In the US, you can scuba dive at 14 and get a Junior Scuba Certification, but you would need a certified adult with you. However, at 16, you would get a regular certification. In the Caribbean, you need to be 16 to scuba dive. In other areas the age limit depends, but in most places it is around 14 or 16.

Most agencies will certify divers from the age of about 15.
However, a number of agencies will certify "junior" divers at age 12, or even 10. However, they have to dive with an adult.
A few (PADI, SSI) will even certify children as young as 8 to dive, but only in a swimming pool.
A few hard core agencies (UTD, GUE) will only certify divers once they are 16 or 17.
