1) A timeout called by a team to discuss strategy or by the referee for an injury or coach's challenge.
2) After an incompleted pass.
3) After a player in possession of the ball runs out of bounds.
4) After a penalty call by an official.
5) After change of possession.
6) After a play that results in points scored.
7) After a fumble where there is a big pile and the officials have to take some time to get the players off the pile to determine what team is in possession of the ball.
8) After a quarterback sack not in the last two minutes of a half.
