Were soldiers of the German army during World War 2 forced against their will to join the army?
Many were. Read the book 'Summer of My German Soilder', by Bette Greene. All the major participating countries in World War 2 (including Germany, Britain, France, the USSR and the US) had conscription (complusory military service). That doesn't necessarily mean that the soldiers were fighting 'against theri will'. GERMANY HAD THE MOST WELL EQUIPPED AND BEST TRAINED SOLDIERS ON THE PLANET. THE WAFFEN SS WERE AN ELITE FIGHTING FORCE FOR GERMANY THAT RARELY SURRENDERED. THE GERMAN PARATROOPERS WERE SAID TO BE ANOTHER ELITE FORCE FOR GERMANY.
