The clothes worn by the court jester moved on to gaudy, brightly colored and humorous attire. The Medieval jesters cloth hat, called a Fool's hat, was most distinctive consisting of three points with a jingle bell at the end of each point. A court jester would also carry a mock sceptre called a bauble which was adorned by a carved head or the inflated bladder of an animal.
Since they were of the lower class they would have worn a woolen tunic in the Roman style that was basic and simple. Turn style leather shoes, a hat, and a sheepskin cloak for the winter months.
They wore colorful clothing, a 1piece suit, called a motley, and it usually had one color one side, and another color the other side of the leg. And they wore jingly hats to make people laugh. Though jingly hats don't make people laugh anymore!
