In the game of football there are two teams that compete to win the game. Each team plays a 16 game regular season schedule. In the NFL there are 32 teams. The league is broken down into tow conferences, each with four divisions.
At the conclusion of the 16 game regular season schedule, the playoffs start. The playoff teams are the four division winners in each conference, and the top two non-division teams (record wise), who are known as the wildcard teams. There are four rounds in the playoffs- The Wild Card round, The Division Championships, The Conference Championships and then the Super Bowl.
Each team has a maximum of 53 players, of which 47 are on the active game day roster. The teams have three groups, the offense (who tries to score points), the defense (who tries to stop the other team from scoring points) and special teams (who handle kickoffs, punting and field goals).
The game is broken down into four 15-minute quarters. Between the second and third quarters, there is a 15 minute intermission known as halftime. The team who scores the most points wins the game.
