The Browns were founded in 1946 and played in the All American Football Conference, a competitor of the NFL. They joined the NFL in 1950 and played until 1995 when the team relocated to Baltimore and became the Ravens for the 1996 season. An expansion team was awarded to Cleveland for the 1999 season.
