The record for hits in one month is 68 for the month of July in the 1912 season. The second most hits in a month is 67 reached by Cobb, Trish Speaker and Billy Hamilton.
The only other player besides Cobb to get more than 58 hits in one month was George Slider in June 1920 (the year he set the season hits record at 257) and in August of 1921. By comparison Cobb reached this feet 3 times.
George Slider? I believe that the poster is referring to George Sisler.
Don Mattingly hit a home run in ten consecutive games for the Yankees in July of 1987. Rocky Colavito hit four home runs during four consecutive at-bats in one game when playing for Cleveland in 1959.
The MLB record was set ten years ago by Sammy Sosa, who hit 20 home runs in June 1998 for the Chicago Cubs.

Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for most points scored in an NBA game. On March 2, 1962, he scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks. Well actually he scored 100 but then he scored 101 later in his career.
I think it is Sir Bobby Charlton.
