There have been three teams that finished last in their division one season and won the Super Bowl the next season ... 1) The 1998 St. Louis Rams went 4-12 and tied for last in the NFC West. The 1999 Rams finished 13-3 and defeated the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV. 2) The 2000 New England Patriots went 5-11 and finished last in the AFC East. The 2001 Patriots went 11-5 and defeated the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. 3) The 2008 New Orleans Saints went 8-8 and finished last in the AFC South. The 2009 Saints went 13-3 and defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.
The Titans went to Super Bowl XXXIV on Jan. 30 2000 and lost to the St. Louis Rams, 23 to 16
