The base.
The prime factors of 70 are 2,5 and 7 so their product is 70. This will happen whenever the prime factors occur only once. When we factor 70 into primes, we are asking for those primes who product is equal to 70. However, sometimes we get one or more primes raise to a power in the prime factorization. In this case, the prime raised to a power is no longer a prime so the product of prime factors is less than the number.
AS a product of its prime factors: 5 times 127 = 625
Exponent
That's scientific notation.
The number that is a repeated factor when written in the power operation is called the base
17 to the 3rd power as a product of the same factor is written 17 x 17 x 17
2 to the power of 5 =32. the repeated factior is the base, or the number 2.
scientific notation
A base number is used as a factor in a power.
A single number can't have a common factor. In case you meant the product of its prime fators, that's 2^-4 x 5^-4.
You take the base number and multiply by how many of the exponates Exsample : 5 to the 3rd power is 5x5x5
It is a composite number. It need not be the power of any number. For example, 2*2*2*3*3 = 72 which is not the power of any integer.
In a power expression, you have two numbers. The number written normally (to the left) is called the BASE. That's what tells you what factor you should multiply by itself. The small raised number (to the right) tells you how often the factor is used. It's called the EXPONENT.
I think you see what number they both have in common then do a factor tree. I think the first part is right but I'm not so sure about the factor tree try yahoo answers :) Acually, first you are suppost to write the power as a product then solve. EXAMPLE: 3 to the fifth power 3 to the fifth power= 3x3x3x3x3 = 243
